Spongy brakes/not braking wellZatos 08-30-2009, 03:30 AM I'm having a problem with my 2001 Camry V6 (Japan built) 104,000 miles. The brakes are spongy and is acting like the brakes need to be bled. Flooring the brakes wont lock up the tires at all, barely on dirt. All the brakes have been bled including the actuator and master cylinder. Just replaced all the brake pads thinking it would be better. Of course the suggested solutions is bleed the brake or the master cylinder is defective. However it doesn't seem likely that's the issue. My mechanic friend thinks it could be the ABS actuator which is a Denso (since there's different ones that come in them). He hasn't had a chance to fully look it over yet. There are no lights on the instrument panel to indicate there are any errors in the system. The traction control seems to be working great in braking the tires. Kinda stumped... if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks! popeye08 08-30-2009, 10:50 AM If you are at a stop and foot on the brake, do you feel sometimes, foot will go down to the floor? If yes, the master cylinder is defective. Otherwise, if you have bled the system, the fluid level is ok, your pad may be the problem, are you using ceramic pads? They tends to be hard, less dust but less performance. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
