i have no idea how to work on cars. or have i ever tried. but idleing issues. seems to smoth out when ac is turnd on. which was just fixed. but sounds horrible from outside t he car. its just some times it chugs kinda at stops and low idle.but i want to clean my iac . since i have been told i should . but dont know where it is or how to clean it . and i would love to do this asap. i need to buy a repair manule when i can afford it .

First off what kinda of vehicle is this on and engine?
Just go to autozone website lookup your vehicle and engine and go to their repair guides it will show ya.

As requested, specifying the year/engine is always helpful. The IAC would be different depending upon the vehicle details.

1991 chevy lumina. idles like crap unless ac is on.

The IAC will be located close to the throttle body . Go to Autozone.com ( or any parts store website ) and enter the info on your car and put " IAC " into their search function and it should show you a picture as well as the cost of the unit .They also have a " components location " that will help you find it . If it still isn't clear , take your car to one of their stores and have the counter guy show you where it is located . Good luck !
