88 tempo hermonic balance

Thinking about buy 88 tempo for work car was told it needs new hermonic balancer it rattles very loud at idel but is fine driving down the road how hard is it to change.thanks

You need a harmonic balancer puller... one that will fit in tight spaces. Sometimes, auto parts stores will rent or loan one to you.

You need a big socket to loosen and tighten the big nut that holds the balancer on to the crank. Also, if this is an automatic trans, you may need a buddy or big vice grips to stop the flexplate from rotating when you loosen/tighten this nut.

When you have all this together, it takes maybe 30 minutes, tops to do, easy job.

Finally, as you may know, you would need to change this before driving any more, or else the crankshaft will eventually break.

Go to a scrap yard and buy a good used one. Watch them pull it for you.
