I am not a suburban owner, but I am helping out a friend with his power steering pump. Right now the mech is telling him the high pressure line at the pump is leaking. When I look for that part is comes up with and without hydroboost. It is a 96 k1500 5.7L, how do I know if it has hydro boost and what does it do?
BTW I do believe it has it bc the part/line that leaks looks like the part for hydroboost.
Thanks for the help
Rob

on later years the hydroboost was only used on larger trucks like 2500/3500....not sure on the 1996...if it looks similiar to a large GM car it is not the hydroboost..

these lines usually rust out or get chaffing damage..in addition to the hoses rupture...

Hydroboost is an hydraulic brake booster, look at the booster behind the master cylinder, if it has hydraulic hoses running from the P/S pump to the booster, it's got hydroboost
