2002 Saturn SL Sedan Engine Knockingprofessor9 08-21-2009, 09:18 PM My girlfriend's car has had a knocking engine for some time now - when you actuate the clutch to shift the knocking is more pronounced. The knocking is getting worse today, and I've suggested a fuel additive to clean out the fuel system, and to get an oil change and add an anti-knock oil additive - I've read threads about the knock sensor, and her engine light is on. Problem is she is 3,000 miles away and I am trying to help. Any other things I can tell her? Thanks Prof saturntech 08-24-2009, 03:09 PM The engines on the s car usually knock due to lack of oil, did you get her to check the oil level? Iv seen these engines run on a half litre of oil RC1488 08-27-2009, 07:20 PM My girlfriend's car has had a knocking engine for some time now - when you actuate the clutch to shift the knocking is more pronounced. S-series dont die, people kill them because they dont keep up on the oil!! Also tell her to go to autozone and get the SES Code. Post it. professor9 08-31-2009, 08:48 PM Guys thanks so much for the reply - her car is in the garage - blown engine. I actually think in the end you all are right - she never changed the oil and just ran it. She's getting a reman engine and I am going to make sure she changes her oil (actually I will get it done) from now on - even though she's 2,000 miles away! Thanks guys - Prof RC1488 09-02-2009, 12:13 PM Oh man :( Sorry for that. Good luck! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
