After 500 responses to the last thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=11389), it was time to retire and start again with a new poll. Feel free to post up the fastest you've ever driven and the vehicle you did it in, along with voting in the poll.

Fastest I ever drove was about 136 - in a 1977 BMW 530i years ago. The car I have now is quicker, but, I've never had the opportunity to crank her up yet.

1996 - Montana.

I was driving my 1981 Cadillac Fleetwood on vacation. The week before, I had installed a 1969 Olds 455 V8, bored 60 over, with Crane cam, Holley 750 carb, Edelbrock intake, etc.

I had a built THM 400 trans and stock 2.54:1 rear end.... so it was geared really tall and loved to go fast. This thing seemed to just idle at 60 mph. At full throttle, it would do 55 mph in first gear, before shifting to second.

I turned about 130 mph, as measured by a stop watch and mile marker posts. I had lots of unused gas pedal and revs left, but I was not thrilled about going faster on an unfamiliar piece of Interstate.

My sister cranked my dads 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 up to 130 on a 5 mile long frontage road by our house, he had it chiped up to around 600 HP. a while later she passed a cop goin 40 over the speed limit and out runs him lmao

brutal, lol. ive done 200 Km/h then had to slow down for the turn. My friend in his RX-7 did 180 KM/h in 4th gear sittin at about 8,000rpm and had room to 11,000 before redlining it. plus a whole other gear. and he told me that 8,000 rode comfortably... :l lol

110 in 1995 in a 1986 Mercury Capri 5.0. :nono: With the T-tops open :iceslolan

I've ridden with my brother in his 1970 Chrysler Newport (440) at over 130. At least that's what we estimated based on the tach, since the speedo was pegged at 120.

And I go faster than 160 every day at work, but after 130, it's not driving any more. :ylsuper:

135mph is a VW Eos.

As soon as I get some new tires on my Saab I plan on beating that.

150ish in my '04 Mach 1. Hard to look at gauges while racing '06 350Z. I didn't start pulling the Z until about 145 when I put it in 5th. I backed off as soon as I saw him fade a tad. I think he backed off and that's the only reason I pulled that little bit on the top end. Those Z's are fast! Only other time I was that fast was in my buds '85 300ZX turbo. It had a couple of upgrades :naughty:

Personally driven: 126mph in 92 Honda Accord, or At least 130mph in a 1979 Chevy Van (lol)
Been in the car: 153mph in 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Friend of mine and I had a little race back when I (breifly) drove a 1979 Chevy van that I picked up for dirt cheap while looking for more permanent transportation that eventually resulted in my purchase of said 1992 Honda Accord. Anyway, the Speedometer in the van only went to 80 so I don't have an accurate reading, but I raced a friends mostly-stock Buick Skylark which topped out at 132 according to its speedometer. We were racing down a long stretch of country road, I lead till a bit past 80 when the aerodynamics of the van let my friend pull ahead, but then he topped out at 132 and I slowly caught up and passed him. I'd say the van was capable of about 145. Maybe a bit more, but that was a rather scary experience and never reattempted it. I know the 6.6L Engine it was certainly capable but the fact that it was a VAN and that it had a towing transmission meant it was never really destined for speed. Good times :P

The lateral force will be transmitted from the front wheel to the rear of the vehicle which will tend to be steered off course. Whereas the asymmetric belts bring a gradual change in the lateral displacement of the tire tread corresponding to the rim while the cornering load grows. The progressive change will harden the sidewalls to produce an immediate response to steering which results in safer driving.

Um, yeahright. Nice try on the advertising. Banned.
