97 Valve Cover gasketbighops2000 08-20-2009, 08:34 PM Its leaking so I'm going to replace both. I found while talking that I may as well do the intake manifold gasket as well since I'm going to pop that seal. Has anyone done the gaskets in the 3.2L V6? Anything that I need to look out for or helpful hints? Anything I'm missing while Im in there aside from pulling out pricy lifters and rocker arms. (was going to do valve adjustment but mine are hydraulic). bighops2000 08-23-2009, 12:06 AM Update: I get an hour here and there to work on this so here is where I stand..... I have started removal of the driver side valve cover. The intake manifold can stay in place. fairly easy job just slightly time consuming as parts have to come off. (EGR Valve, EGR Housing, intake tube, plug wires). Does anyone know what the copper tube is that runs from the EGR housing to the ehaust manifold (i think). This looks like it may need to come off. Cat Fuzz 08-23-2009, 02:29 AM That's the EGR tube. It will need to be disconnected, usually at the EGR valve is the easiest way. bighops2000 08-23-2009, 07:27 PM That's the EGR tube. Its too rusty to unbolt from the exhaust manifold and remove completely so you have to work around it and the large metal bracket (don't know what that is . Actually to comfortably do it you need to remove the throttle body too. You also need to have plenty of fancy socket extensions to get all of the valve cover screws off. I have completed the driver side gasket and spark plug seals. If I could go back in time I wouldnt have done it but we all hit that point when u know that there is no turning back. The exhaust manifold has to be removed to comfortably get the passenger side valve cover off. I'm not doing all that after doing the driver side. It was the worst of the leaking gaskets anyway so I'll jsut wait and see if i notice a difference. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
