1992 Regal 3.8 stallsBob-62 08-16-2009, 01:31 PM Good day all I have a 1992 Buic Regal with a 3.8 in it. Recentley it let the other 1/2 setting along the road. I did some research & found it was either the Ignition mod.(under the coilpack) Or the crank position sensor (Behind the harmonic ballancer) I replaced the ignition mod. first but that wasint it. Still cranked but no fire. then i replaced the crank position sensor. that fixed the problem. runs better than ever. But now it has been stalling when decelerating. starts right back up no problem. However it usualy stalls at intersections, stop lights & sighns.Mostley when going from higher speeds to sudden slowdown. I also checked the trouble codes. it comes up 41 (camshaft position sensor) would this cause the stall problem? any assistance would be greatley appreciated. Thank you for your time & cooperation. GTP Dad 08-17-2009, 08:03 PM Welcome to AF!! The cam position sensor can cause a similar problem. Replace it and the issues should go away. One thing to try is putting the car into neutral when coming to a stop. It is possible that the lockup convertor is not disengaging and it will cause a stalling issue as well. If it doesn't stall out then you may need to have the torque convertor control solenoid replaced. This really isn't a self fix. It might also help to remove and clean the idle air control motor located on the throttle body. If it is dirty it can cause stalling as well. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
