How much fuel is left in tank when fuel warning light goes on in a 98 buick century?Learning_A_Lot 08-13-2009, 11:13 AM I live in Canada so I go by liters, but I can handle gallons as well. Thanks. I noticed it starts beeping when you get lower and lower, but it still seems like it can be driven for a bit longer. Airjer_ 08-13-2009, 12:32 PM Just enough to get you to a gas station but not enough to keep the pump cool on a hot day. One of these times the pump will stop working while you driving or your car will not start after filling the tank back up. Especially on the hotter days of summer. Learning_A_Lot 08-13-2009, 07:38 PM The reason I ask is because I want to know how much I will get to my tank in the city. I just got the car and I had to fill it. It was beeping when I bought it and when I filled it I only had to put in 53 liters and it can hold 64. So that means I have quite a bit left. So i will push it a little more.... BNaylor 08-13-2009, 07:48 PM It will vary depending on the accuracy of the fuel level sending unit which gets worse with age but Regal/Century have about 1.5 - 2 gallons of gasoline left when the idiot light and chime come on. I wouldn't push it too much unless you carry spare fuel. GTP Dad 08-13-2009, 07:49 PM If you have an owners manual it should tell you how much is left. Usually the light will come on with aroung 1 to 1.5 gallons or 3.8 to 5.7 liters left. I'd say yours may be a little too sensitive or you didn't get it completely full. BNaylor 08-13-2009, 08:14 PM If you have an owners manual it should tell you how much is left. The owners manual doesn't say anything about how much fuel is left Lynn when the low fuel light comes on and the chime first sounds. All it says if you are near E - empty you still have a little fuel left but you should get some soon. Learning_A_Lot 08-13-2009, 11:52 PM How much do any of you get in your centuries? So far I'm sitting at 430 I think, light hasnt come on yet. Wait I lied, when I start up and wait till the bar comes up a bit, then it goes out again....I'll report again when I fill up. Yeah, I noticed the bar likes to swing a little when I drive. Airjer_ 08-14-2009, 11:52 AM If your waiting until the light comes on to fill up, especially with a GM or Ford your pushing your luck! If you need to know how far you can go in the city why not just figure out you fuel econony in the city and multiply it by the number of gallons in the tank? If you "push it a little more" you may be pushing the car, rather than your low fuel test, due to fuel pump starvation & eventual pump failure! :nono: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
