An observation and opinion..

I have used this forum for awhile now and noticed users are dying down. I know we have all seen it.. I believe even Lemorris posted other posts about this and tried to ignite more users to post. Hats off to all who frequent this site.

I find though that too many people are just doing that...looking. This is with no disrespect to others, but i observe that unless its work by Lemorris, Blip, Girlbear..rexsins-art and a few others... that it seems noone takes the time to post replies/ advice/ etc about others work. I have posted alot of work on here...and as of late have no response to them..since July 2 i believe. It is not all about me either.. i see tons of similar posts...with no response and many viewers. How many new people come and go because thier posts get no response?

I agree the names mentioned above are of the best quaility on the site that i know of and deserve the comments and acknowledgement from others as we all do. But unless its a post from one of these people it seems to get a passing glance.

If it wasnt for Lemorris and his progress- step-by-step pics..i wouldnt know where to start to try and accomplish works like his. Although i am not at his level...his progress pics inspire me to try and achieve similar work. Out of that i am sure i gain something...but i dont often get responses or "try this"... etc..

I know we are all busy..and time is precious... but if people are taking the time to post thier works on here...reponses would be nice to see thereafter. In order for this site to improve and gain more use..."we" must use it for what it is for....

I am just hoping that this speaks for other who see the same thing happening and maybe dont want to rock the boat..

It is meant to insult noone, but maybe to inspire. I am not a good enough artist yet (I feel) to lend alot of advice to work in progress-es etc)... but i can offer this advice.

Hope those reading this and mentioned in the above are not taking it personal..it is not to attack anyone.. lets face it..without people like Lemorris, Blip, Girlbear..etc... this site would be dead.

thanks

AF will be pushing 10 years old pretty quick here. It has had it's glory moments, yet still remains a huge database of information. While one sub forum may not be active, others thrive. This changes month to month, year to year. I'm sure we would listen if you had some good ideas to generate more activity.

valid points dude ,AF is known worldwide and there are artists worldwide aswell,is it a lack of exposure on this site perhaps that people just dont realise we are here ???

maybe we should get a think tank thread together to see how we can either

A: get this area more active because it appears people just sdont know about it ????

or B: without offending anyone but perhaps an artists only WEBSITE needs to be born away from here,i know some already exist but it might be time for someone to set up something really NEW ,INNOVATIVE AND FRESH !!!!!!!!!!

just some ideas to think about cheers

lem has touched on this before aswell ....

I think people just need to stop lurking.

Comments are one thing, but really, I get comments from the same 3 people and I post waaaaaaaayyyyy too much.

Folks just need to stop being whatever it is that causes them to sit on the sidelines and get in the game. It's open to all.

There's another feature thing coming up and there was an influx of some new pretty well known guys around here a few weeks ago, but not much interaction. I know they would have been happy to participate but you guys gotta engage them.

I know many of the old group is out there...looking...reading this now.

I'm personally scaling way back on the steps and stuff as I think it discourages up and comers. I complain about my struggles and It's not really fair. I think we're all equal so anybody regardless of skill level should feel comfortable doin their thing. I think they just need a little space and they'll come out.

Elco...draw....keep drawing.....no matter what anybody tells you, that is the single most important thing you can do.

Yesterday, I wrote up a nice response (IMHO!) to the matter...but, lost it while trying to post. Some how my machine logged me out of AF during the process...:(

In a nut shell, whether I post here or other forums, I receive little constructive criticism. And that's OK, because as brought up by other folk, it's the continued practice of drawing which improves ones skills, whether one is properly reveiwed by their peers or not.

As long as one has the desire to push your-self and are not satisfied with the 'status quo' of what you do, you will improve. If one gets frustrated by no one commenting on their stuff and then quits posting, perhaps one is posting for the wrong reasons.

That's my 2 cents worth...and the only reason why I'm behind the keyboard today is because it's too bloody hot outside. Other wise, my posting activety (along with most folks) during the summer season is low.

Keep up the faith!
