Seems like this problem has gotten worse. We've owned our 02 Yukon SLT 4x4 for just over a year and have started to find small problems the dealership problem "temporarily" fixed. But now I have noticed when I am turning or going over bumps, the front tire on the driver side seems to rattle. You can hear it and feel it in the steering wheel, almost as if something is loose up there.
Someone mentioned a bad Shock, someone else said the u-joints are going bad, someone ELSE sad something was loose and one other person declared my whole suspension on that side was going out. I have NO clue and don't want to take it in and spend gobs of money on just finding out what the problem is. My moms 04 Maxima does the same thing and when she had her breaks done, they claim they never heard the noise when she asked them to drive it so they could pinpoint an issue. I am at a loss and have researched to no avail. I am worried it will turn into a bigger issue. I hope someone here has an answer for me!

This is most likely the intermediate steering shaft. Look athttp://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=265506&highlight=intermediate+steering+shaft

took it to the shop...Found out the intermediate shaft needs replaced and part of the reason why is was so bad was my lower ball joints were SHOT. The shop told me that they had pronounced the rattle. Had the ball joints replaced for safety reasons and the rattling is a lot quieter now. Still there. Having the i-shaft replaced soon, they no longer grease them. The ball joints wiped out my bank account though but safety first!

I have an 02 Yukon XL. Same problem. I took my dash apart. Went down the road under hood. Did some research and there is a fuel line that connects to the firewall that had came loose and was rattling. I resecured the line and prolem solved. It was a loud rattle. There is a GM service bulletin that mentions this.
