Yamaha XV1600 - Tamiya 1/12M.Boy 08-11-2009, 06:52 AM Hello this is my next bike - Yamaha XV1600 Road Star Tamiya 1/12 http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/14080A.jpg This model of Harley-Davidson inspired me to make something similar http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/122_0706_32z2007_harley_davidson_vr.jpg Everything will be black :) This is black engine http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_002.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_003.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_006.jpg and new black front fender http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_047.jpg Twowheelsrule 08-11-2009, 03:55 PM The Tamiya Road Star Kit is very good. I have built one box stock and have bought 2 more to try to make some sort of chopper with. I like what you are doing with yours and would love to see how you make your modifications! Mark ketje 08-11-2009, 07:10 PM Nice start on the project. This is one kit I don't have on my pile. MidMazar 08-11-2009, 11:30 PM Nice, this one will surely turn out great like your ducati. One quick question, how did you paint the silver on the motor fins? BMF? or wash? Fajnie wychodzi motor! M.Boy 08-12-2009, 09:13 AM ... how did you paint the silver on the motor fins? BMF? or wash? It's dry brush. joelwideqvist 08-12-2009, 09:23 AM Engine looks great. So you dry brushed the fins? Looks super. Another way could be to paint the cylinders silver, then paint it with enamel black and wipe the fin edges off with q-tip dipped in enamel thinner. /Joel robrex 08-13-2009, 04:20 AM I haven't been around much lately but this looks great! I'll follow with interest ScanmanDan 08-14-2009, 07:25 AM Super clean looking build so far. What sort of paint did you use to get that deep gloss black? Thanks for sharing. Dan M.Boy 08-14-2009, 09:00 AM This is Gunze C Gloss Black. M.Boy 08-15-2009, 05:56 PM Next are the wheels. I don't like them. They come into being with two parts and on the conection creates gap. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/koa.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_026.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_028.jpg :frown: so... http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_036.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_037.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_039.jpg I will try make wheels like in H-D NightRod http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/020_hdvrod.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_040.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_041.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_042.jpg first prototype http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_018.jpg second :) http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_019.jpg and next http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_065.jpg and finally http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/felga_1.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/felga_duzo.jpg my friend made for me these elements on his plotter. Brilliant! Many thanks Wojtek! ScanmanDan 08-16-2009, 03:12 AM Those wheels look great. Your friends plotter did a super sharp job of cutting them out. They will look heaps better than the spoked ones that came with the kit. Dan M.Boy 08-21-2009, 06:14 PM sportracer02 08-22-2009, 02:19 AM Very inspiring !!!! ben_gsr2s 08-23-2009, 11:45 AM you are doing great so far.. love the engine.. black replace all the chrome what you do on the rims have inspired me.. i believe your built will turn-out great joelwideqvist 08-24-2009, 02:15 AM Nice choice on the rims, work looks super. Great work on the engine also! Joel M.Boy 08-26-2009, 05:54 AM I installed center of the wheel using CA and MagicSculp mass. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_081.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_087.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_088.jpg Twowheelsrule 08-26-2009, 02:00 PM Looking good! Keep it up! I have some questions...how did you do the silver over the black on the engine? it looks perfect! Does the engine attach to the frame with screws? Keep up the good work. Stuart M.Boy 08-28-2009, 02:46 PM ...how did you do the silver over the black on the engine?... I panted silver with dry brush. Does the engine attach to the frame with screws? Yes, three screws. utzelu 09-06-2009, 01:38 PM What a coincidence! I started building the same kit some months ago, and did the same thing with the wheels. Only that the model I took is from the HD Fatboy. Yours look much better... Can't wait to see the bike built. M.Boy 09-10-2009, 09:20 AM Thanks utzelu! Small progress. You are a master with that paint. Your Ducati was insane but this is even worse. That surface is so perfect. /Joel sportracer02 09-11-2009, 03:38 AM H-h-h-holy shit. You are a master with that paint. Your Ducati was insane but this is even worse. That surface is so perfect. /Joel I just can agree with Joel: Great stuff !!!!!!!!!!!! M.Boy 09-17-2009, 05:02 PM Many thanks! As usual lack of time but there is small progress. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_127.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_128.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_131.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_130.jpg ketje 09-18-2009, 04:14 AM The paint looks indeed stunning. Black isn't the easiest colour to paint like that. keep up the good work. M.Boy 10-01-2009, 06:55 PM A few steps forward http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_134.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_137.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_138.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_141.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_142.jpg Twowheelsrule 10-01-2009, 08:57 PM This Night Star is going to be a diamond in the night as shiny as this paint is! Every bit of it is looking good! Mark joelwideqvist 10-02-2009, 07:08 AM It's going to be a night train! /Joel M.Boy 10-03-2009, 11:11 AM Front wheel almost finish and... http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_152.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_153.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_154.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_155.jpg :banghead::banghead::banghead: joelwideqvist 10-03-2009, 12:16 PM Sh*t, what happend? /Joel M.Boy 10-03-2009, 05:43 PM When I founded the tire, I press to much. M.Boy 10-05-2009, 08:07 AM Work go on http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_156.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_166.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_167.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_169.jpg and wheel from bases http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_162.jpg M.Boy 10-05-2009, 07:05 PM Roca46 10-08-2009, 02:45 PM Great progress and very well painted all those parts! Bad luck on the wheels but I'm sure you will solve the problem. Forgot to mention, fantastic shine! I never get those results as yours, hope to make my R1 look like that shine. Cheers. Roca. joelwideqvist 10-09-2009, 04:11 PM Those last images are fantastic, all that black! The rivets and cylinder fins are so subtle but so outstanding. Perfect detailing. I have no idea how the seat looks on this particular model but I can imagine it can be a part that takes the appearance down a few notches if not done to well. I think you will be able to do it very well! I can't wait to see this baby dressed up. /Joel M.Boy 10-18-2009, 03:04 PM At last wheels are done http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_186.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_187.jpg Seat will be standard. From kit ;) sportracer02 10-19-2009, 01:23 AM Hi, I admire your way of building: absolutely clean, fantastic. Great job and super photos !!! joelwideqvist 10-19-2009, 03:21 AM Not a nook or cranny anywhere on those. Perfect. I never tend to have the patience to sand something that clean. But you obviously do, and you get some real gems in return. /Joel M.Boy 10-26-2009, 06:53 PM Almost finished. Still only a rear fender and a few small things. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_207.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_209.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_214.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_219.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_217.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_216.jpg and some detail http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_196.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_197.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_199.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_204.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_202.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_203.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_198.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/grafit_photo/night/night_201.jpg stainlesssteel 10-26-2009, 07:41 PM Simply beautiful! A real gem! Keep us posted in this black beauty mate! joelwideqvist 10-27-2009, 03:43 AM Super! Will be hard to keep dust from this beauty... I think you've really succeeded in the different shades of black and the small details. If any, I would have wished for something silvery on the wheels and a small rear fender . Will be great to see it completed! Edit: just read it again and saw, on the first line of the post, that there is a fender to come...sorry. /Joel joelwideqvist 10-29-2009, 05:20 PM I had to go back for another look! She's simply a stunner M.Boy! What impresses me most is how you have managed to keep the dust particles off all that black. In these close up pictures they should stand out like a pimple on the nose...simply amazing. /J M.Boy 10-29-2009, 06:15 PM Many thanks! ...how you have managed to keep the dust particles off all that black I tried very hard :) Now I'm finishing slowly the fender and I will begin another interesting bike - Yamaha Vmax. sportracer02 10-30-2009, 03:30 AM Amazing job, look great even without rear-fender. I would blacken the little screws Tervo 11-02-2009, 02:33 PM Very nice! I really like that nearly black and white look of your pictures, there are only a few places where one can see, they are color shots! So, you are going to build an Aoshima's V-Max? That is something I must follow very closely, it is also on my stash. joelwideqvist 11-03-2009, 03:11 AM I too want to do a VMax bike, a really tuned one. I had to take just another look at this build M-boy. It is very addictive, not only have you managed to get the dust off, there is not a glue dot visible. Practically impossible for me... /Joel joelwideqvist 11-04-2009, 08:27 AM Third post in a row! Looking through my ref pics for my chopper build I found this bobber - there is something about it that reminds you about your bike isn't there? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/joelwideqvist/0910_stcp_11_zexileright_side.jpg sportracer02 11-04-2009, 01:23 PM Thatīs cool, those spoke wheels also fit !! Roca46 11-05-2009, 12:29 PM Hi, I love to see that beautiful bike. I love the work you done not only with the bike but also with the pictures. One can see the cleanest modeler you are, very very impressed, because I imagine that is really difficult to keep clean that model. Loving the black combination with the silver screws and details. Any tip to keep the bike as clean as yours? Cheers. Roca. Seventyseven 11-05-2009, 05:40 PM You have inspired me to build a bobber! I got the Tamiya Virago XV1000 kit as a base.......gotta look better than the stock bike! YongGun Park 11-05-2009, 08:57 PM Wow..... I love your photos. I envy you. The wheels are really excellent. M.Boy 11-06-2009, 02:20 AM Many thanks gentelmen for good word! So, you are going to build an Aoshima's V-Max? Yes this Aoshima's V-max and I actually already started to do it ;) When I begin to work more progress I will start WIP. Any tip to keep the bike as clean as yours? Sorry but no tip. ...but he isn't so clean ;) ... I envy you.... It isn't so hard. You just get the Camera with good macro lens like canon 60mm and take pictures with two light sources scattered or reflected. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
