Silver high-mirrored F1 spotted in LondonWaZzZuPpP 08-10-2009, 02:36 PM Now thats interesting  http://img198.imagevenue.com/loc697/th_32247_c214748364810082009154331_1_122_697lo.jpg (http://img198.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=32247_c214748364810082009154331_1_12 2_697lo.jpg) http://img215.imagevenue.com/loc191/th_32260_c214748364810082009154331_2_122_191lo.jpg (http://img215.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=32260_c214748364810082009154331_2_12 2_191lo.jpg) Did Ralph Lauren sold one of his road cars? Peloton25 08-10-2009, 02:49 PM Cool! Thanks for sharing! :) There are supposed to be five of these high-mirrored F1s according to a couple of good sources (and this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=560041)), so maybe this is the one car we haven't yet been able to identify? Here are some images I put together of the other four. #040 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/th_040_evo_compilation.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/040_evo_compilation.jpg) #055 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/th_055_compilation.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/055_compilation.jpg) #071 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/th_071_compilation.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/071_compilation.jpg) #074 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/th_074_compilation.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/074_compilation.jpg) >8^) ER hurstg01 08-10-2009, 03:13 PM This one must be the final high mirrored car yet to be identified, and must be the one the owner who contacts me from time to time commented on recently..... Peloton25 08-10-2009, 04:44 PM Now, where have we seen that plate before? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/negative105011cm0.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/negative420041wd0.jpg And if this plate is real, XP1 LM carried it briefly too: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/P151_Large.jpg From the DVLA lookup: The vehicle details for F1 MCL are: Date of Liability 01 10 2009 Date of First Registration 01 09 1999 Year of Manufacture 1999 <-- Really now? Cylinder Capacity (cc) 6064CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour SILVER Vehicle Type Approval null >8^) ER Le Man 08-10-2009, 05:06 PM Now thats interesting  http://img198.imagevenue.com/loc697/th_32247_c214748364810082009154331_1_122_697lo.jpg (http://img198.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=32247_c214748364810082009154331_1_12 2_697lo.jpg) http://img215.imagevenue.com/loc191/th_32260_c214748364810082009154331_2_122_191lo.jpg (http://img215.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=32260_c214748364810082009154331_2_12 2_191lo.jpg) Did Ralph Lauren sold one of his road cars? Is it me, or is there. Something missing in the second pic!! "Mirror mirror on the wall" Peloton25 08-10-2009, 05:36 PM I think it's one of those optical illusions. The high mirrors sit lower and closer to the body than they might seem. Maybe we should call them medium mirrors. :grinno: I cycled through all my high-mirrored F1 shots looking for something similar, and found this one of Flemke's from less of an angle, but you can see the right side mirror is only barely visible. Move the camera another inch to the left and you'd lose it completely. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/mclarenf1s_windsor30.jpg Also, I'd expect to see a portion of the second mirror in these two shots of #071, but it is also "missing". http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/29167_P1000860_122_576lo.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/29163_P1000859_122_818lo.jpg >8^) ER Le Man 08-11-2009, 04:16 AM I was thinking more like this pic, http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/3519/0741rl.th.jpg (http://img38.imageshack.us/i/0741rl.jpg/) OK its further away, but its also showing more of the right hand side of the car and lower down. Maybe I,m a sceptic, but now the car is out and about, more pics will appear. I mentioned before about the silver 99 car a while back, which I think belongs to Ron Dennis. He is known to own several, modified F1,s in his personal car collection. hurstg01 08-11-2009, 12:52 PM Remember when the Testarossa's had one wing mirror? http://www.qv500.com/Ferrari%20Testarossa%20P1%201.jpg ;) I can see the 2nd mirror in the front-on shot. Hopefully we'll see more of this car now it's out and about microsup 08-11-2009, 07:24 PM Its also interesting to see that this car F1 MCL has had no previous owners: - Manufacturer: MCLAREN Colour: Silver Engine Size (cc): 6064 Type: Sports/Convertible Model Year (YYYY): 19990000 Date of 1st Registration (DD/MM/YYYY): 19990901 Vehicle Registration Mark: ***** Get the Vehicle Status Report Number of Previous Owners: 0 Fuel: Petrol mini magic 08-12-2009, 12:00 PM Hopefully it'll be floating around next week :) mclarenman 08-16-2009, 09:01 PM found a youtube vid of the unkown f1  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOraUAdFWPw EDIT: Moved your post in here to keep it with the rest of the discussion. Le Man 08-18-2009, 06:41 AM I,m pleased the vid has proved its a high mirror spec car. Strange how some images can play tricks on the mind, or perhaps I should look like this  instead of :smokin: Now its made me really curious, to know its chassis # Peloton25 08-18-2009, 11:28 AM I wholeheartedly encourage that curiosity. I have a couple of guesses, but two things seem certain. This is a 1996 or earlier car - surely that helps narrow it down. :grinno: Of the five high mirrored F1s, it was one of two that had the mirrors added after production in a retrofit scenario. >8^) ER andybee 09-03-2009, 12:10 AM I dont know the chassis, but I remember when the Z1 mirrors were originally mocked up, it was being mocked up on a Silver chassis. No idea if the mirror ended up on that particular F1. Sami Aaltonen 09-03-2009, 02:03 AM Now, where have we seen that plate before? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/negative420041wd0.jpg And if this plate is real, XP1 LM carried it briefly too: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20H/P151_Large.jpg From the DVLA lookup: The vehicle details for F1 MCL are: Date of Liability 01 10 2009 Date of First Registration 01 09 1999 Year of Manufacture 1999 <-- Really now? Those LM shots in the woods, open door and sort of images which were seen right after the LM lounch (if I remember right), were those some kind of Media shots, pictures for the media to print their magazines? andybee 09-06-2009, 10:47 PM yes, McLaren arranged shoot and included in press release vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
