Brake noise...clicking

2005 Cavalier. Right rear brake works fine with a gentle, touch. But, with a heavy foot, a few feet before total stop, there is a clicking noise with a frequency of about one click per revolution. I replaced both rear drums, readjusted both rear brakes through the little window on the back side. The inside of the drum is smooth, both brake shoes are smooth. There is no pulling or grabbing, just this irritating click, click, click. Any thoughts???? Thanks, Joe

Are you sure nothing fell apart inside the drum?

Hi RahX,
You asked: Are you sure nothing fell apart inside the drum?

I didn't do the original job, so I am not positive everything is just as it should be. I have had it opened 4 or 5 times and compared it to the left side and could see nothing wrong, at least no loose parts. I have a 2004 Haynes book (the latest for Cavaliers) and one picture which shows "2000 and later".

I would like a "good" photo or diagram showing "all" of the parts. Does anyone know where this is available?

Thanks, Joe

If you can wait until this weekend, I'm replacing the wheel bearing on mine, I can get you some good pics while I'm in there. I can't promise I won't do something stupid like leave my camera at home or forget about the pics all toghether, but I'll do my best :)

I ended up not doing the wheel bearing, I got into work after the parts store I got the wheel bearings from the first time was closed, so I couldn't get one under warranty. I went ahead and pulled a drum off anyway but it's not the unobstructed shot I thought I'd have.

Thanks J-Ri,
I will compare these photos with the real thing. A quick look does not show anything different, but I will look again.
