Driving down the freeway and car temp went 3/4 over but not all the way to hot yet oil blew out from something in the front all over the timing cover water pump and smog crap. The upper radiator hose had a tear in it, the were holes in the smog tubes. No oil on dip stick and water was very low. added water and it turned up in the oil pan. Compression on all cylinders is very good and exactly the same and there is no oil on either head anywhere. Took off intake manifold and every intake port is clean as a whistle. Are there water jackets in the front timing cover that could allow water in the oil???
Well the next thing I did was try to tighten down the head bolts as this once fixed a blown Head Gaskit on my old Datsun Roadster. Low and behold the only head bolt that was already stripped was the top front head bolt on the passenger side. Bought an aftermarket head gaskit for $60 and had the head milled 3 thousands of an inch for $20 even thought the head did not appear warped at all. The upper radiator hose from Bmw cost almost as much as the aftermarket head gaskit but it now runs better than before and does not leak oil all over my driveway anymore.
