new BOVvr4choke 08-01-2009, 03:44 PM my stock BOV has been impersonating an owl lately so i finally ordered a new one. i ordered a turboxs type h-34 recirc. questions? comments? Blackcrow64 08-02-2009, 01:25 AM I wonder if it'll be as loud as my RFL is.. I really like how these BOV's sound if it is similar. Are you going for loud or quiet? vr4choke 08-02-2009, 04:12 AM i would prefer it to be loud, but sound isnt as important to me as functionality. either way its gotta be louder than the stock one right? whatre you running the RFL on? your talon? AutostradaVR4 08-02-2009, 06:55 AM take some video so we can hear it when you get it installed. I still havn't decided on one. I'm sure it'll be louder than stock even with being recirculated. Yeah, I've got the RFL on my Talon and it's definitely one of the loudest BOV's I've ever heard. I like it though! :) VR43000GT 08-02-2009, 07:32 PM IMO you made a great choice by not getting the XS RFL as it does not recirculate and runs rich inbetween shifts. Some people's VR4's have even died between shifts from temporarily running so rich. Although I do know one person here locally who has run with the RFL with no problems really. On top of that, there is no sense in running rich between shifts as unburnt gasoline can ruin oil after time leaving you with further problems, though is not that common from just the BOV. I have a Greddy Type S and I love it. If it goes passed 12 psi it makes a fluttering sound too and isn't obnoxiously loud, but not quiet either. vr4choke 08-02-2009, 11:42 PM yea, stupid MAF. lol. whatever though, i'm sure it'll still sound good. i'll be sure and take video of it. it should get here real soon since i got 2nd day air. for some reason it was only like $10 extra. i guess they have to fly it out here either way Blackcrow64 08-03-2009, 12:22 AM You guys can't convert to the GM MAF and vent atmosphere? Stealthee 08-03-2009, 12:31 AM You guys can't convert to the GM MAF and vent atmosphere? Yeah we definitely can. Our MAF is identical to the 2g DSM turbo MAF. My 93 TSI had a 2g MAF and I bought a MAFT for it, but then sold it to a 3s guy when I was getting rid of the TSI. Blackcrow64 08-03-2009, 12:36 AM Yeah we definitely can. Our MAF is identical to the 2g DSM turbo MAF. My 93 TSI had a 2g MAF and I bought a MAFT for it, but then sold it to a 3s guy when I was getting rid of the TSI. Ahh gotcha. I thought I remembered seeing something about 3s' in the book that came with the translator. I'd go that route to dump atmosphere. Sounds so much better IMO. VR43000GT 08-03-2009, 04:03 PM You guys can't convert to the GM MAF and vent atmosphere? What Stealthee said but for me the RFL is too loud for me. It sounds cool for a little bit and then just got annoying. On top of that, I like the actual sound the Greddy Type S makes compared to the XS RFL. .02 Stealthee 08-03-2009, 04:32 PM I loved the Type S on my TSI. Blackcrow64 08-03-2009, 11:59 PM I don't think I've heard a type s before... Mostly hear ssqv's around here. I really like them too though... Stealthee 08-04-2009, 12:38 AM I was trying to find some vids of my old TSI to show what the Type S sounds like but the only 3 I could find were only launches and you couldnt hear shit over the exhaust. I had another of a quick highway run but I cant seem to find it. VR43000GT 08-04-2009, 02:29 AM Here is one on a DSM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vybxR8z4cGM One on a 240SX?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uNMqxYPs94 vr4choke 08-15-2009, 07:51 PM i finally got around to installing it today. here are some pics, ill get a video as soon as i figure out how :p comparison http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad104/fight4this/S7300925.jpg everything is everywhere http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad104/fight4this/S7300927.jpg covertly installed in the stock location http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad104/fight4this/S7300929.jpg LandoAWD 08-19-2009, 01:33 PM Boost leak test your car. Now. TurboXS products are notoriously terrible when it comes to doing anything other but looking decent and sounding good. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
