A couple years back my car would rev up to about 2500 rpm at start up and then as the problem progressed it would die right after start up if I didn't step on the gas the keep the rpm's up a little. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and it solved the problem. Now I'm having the same issues again. I at least now know what the solution is to fix this but does anyone know what is causing my fuel pressure regulator to go bad in the first place? I would like to get to the root cause of the problem instead of having to replace the fpr every couple years.
