This is a 97 with the 2.2L engine. What would cause the #4 cylinder to fill with fuel???
Mechanic not sure what to do and my pockets aren't deep enough for him to keep experimenting.
Changed the fuel regulator, and the injector and no improvement.
Next thought about trying a used fuel rail but in 97 it sounds like this is incorporated into the intake manifold.
If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them...thanks

Have you checked to makes sure that Cylinder is getting spark. I am not sure if it would fill the cylinder with fuel but seems logical if it does not burn it, it cannot exhaust a sprayed liquid out of the top of the head that easily. Never had that happen so kinda grabbing at straws.. Hope it helps.

Good luck. Let us know what fixed it when you figure it out.

KISS: Have you checked that sparkplug or tried replacing it? A cheap thing to try. then swap two of the injectors if that doesn't work and see if another cyl fills up.
