1997 2.0 into a 1996 motor swaptnbgaskill 07-29-2009, 11:26 PM I recently pulled a motor and tranny out of a 97 put it in a 96, changed coil pack and crankshaft pos wiring. purrs like a kitten but when you stomp the gas it acts like it wants to flood out or sounds like the rev limiter have pulled and cleaned tb checked the timing pretty much checked every sensor on the thing about to give up. HELP RahX 07-30-2009, 06:21 AM You're sure the timing belt is in time. tnbgaskill 07-30-2009, 09:50 AM yep did by the book checked and rechecked has the right belt marks line up perfectly i am stumped RahX 07-30-2009, 09:01 PM You say you messed with the crank sensor wiring, what did you do? Did you have to change from a flat pin connector to the round pin or?? tnbgaskill 07-31-2009, 12:38 AM exactly what you said had to switch connectors tnbgaskill 07-31-2009, 07:16 PM i was playing around with it today and when i control air flow on the throttle body runs perfect dont spit and sputter, when i bought this car he had a k=n filter on it is it possible he unhooked something or screwed up the mass air sensor by doing this? HPNOTIQracing 08-05-2009, 11:04 AM i was playing around with it today and when i control air flow on the throttle body runs perfect dont spit and sputter, when i bought this car he had a k=n filter on it is it possible he unhooked something or screwed up the mass air sensor by doing this? there is no mass air flow sensor. i would try replacing the iac and/or the tps iac= idle air control valve tps= throttle postion sensor are you guessing its getting to much fuel? can you smell fuel? mabey not enough fuel. filter, pump? tnbgaskill 08-05-2009, 11:07 AM changed both no difference HPNOTIQracing 08-05-2009, 11:09 AM mabey a fuel issue then. did you check your fuel pressure tnbgaskill 08-05-2009, 11:09 AM dunno when i press in on the release valve on fuel rail it doesnt spray out gas just trickles out is this normal tnbgaskill 08-05-2009, 11:10 AM i need to get ahold of a pressure tester or is there some hillbilly way to check pressure? HPNOTIQracing 08-05-2009, 11:13 AM dunno when i press in on the release valve on fuel rail it doesnt spray out gas just trickles out is this normal is this with the key in the run position? tnbgaskill 08-05-2009, 11:20 AM key on , key off, running does the same thing throughout i would think it would spray out it does on my jeep and durango dont really want to drop 299 on fuel pump/ pressure regulator HPNOTIQracing 08-05-2009, 01:03 PM with it running you should deffinatly get some pressure. i would start with the fuel filter. when did you change that last? then pump. probly not regulator tnbgaskill 08-08-2009, 07:09 PM Thanks for the residual guessing but i figured it out was the plug in for the tps wires inside the plug in were wore out. Until next time stay cool. RahX 08-09-2009, 02:28 AM Is there any kind of vacuum leak? Are all the pieces on the intake tight? Are the intake o-rings/gasket leaking? It is a speed density system so any uncalculated air inhalation can cause trouble. Usually it causes a higher idle/engine speed higher than normal with the throttle closed but it could do just about anything it wants. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
