Hard Brake Pedal

My 1997 LeSabre is requiring more and more brake pedal pressure to stop. The pads are new and the rear shoes are in good shape. Could this be due to a failing brake booster?

Was it like this before the ft pad were replaced? No, it happened after the pad replacement, but I have driven the auto for almost 5k miles before this problem came up.

Another question, what brand of pads were installed & were the rotors replaced or turned?

I used Wearever Gold series pads from Advance Auto, and replaced the rotors at the same time.

Sounds like the pads have not seated to the rotors, even after 5k. Engine off, step on the brakes till the pedal is firm, start the engine, if the pedal drops usually the booster is good.

I guess it is something I`ll just have to live with, the car will stop ok, even at high speed, just takes a little more muscle to get it done.

I used Wearever Gold series pads from Advance Auto, and replaced the rotors at the same time.Change the pads, & resurface the rotors, the Wearever Gold pads have a high metal content (too hard) and will glaze the rotors. Try Raybestos Professional Grade Part # PGD623C or Advanced Technology Part #ADT623C.
