Ok guys this safari is really kickin my butt! Heres what it is doing.. runs good when cold (5 minutes after starting) then starts to drags and a slight misfire. There is a smell of gas at idle when hot or when you turn it off. seems to run well when under hard load (pedal mashed to floor) but normal driving its not running proper. Heres what i know its not. its not ignition, dist has no soide to sode play all wires plugs button cap etc are new. new fuel and air filter. Ive read about the spider but there is no gas smell in the oil. im thinking possibly the CAT but there is no sulfur smell and i havent noticed it glowing in the dark ( i know i know they dont always do it especially with newer cars) so any one got any good ideas? i dont have a pressure guage or i would have already tested pressure.

Maybe no gas smell in the oil but sounds like the spider assembly to me--especially if you are smelling gas. I would take the doghouse off and the air filter assembly and put some lights on the subject...

take a paperclip and jump the 2 upper right hand corner posts of the diagnostics plug. Turn the key to the run position & watch the ck engine light. write down the number of flashes. these are your trouble codes. It Will Always blink once then twice 3 times in secession. then pay close attention to the next 3 pairs of flashes & so on.compare these codes with the code guide on troublecodes.net. This will help u locate the problem.GL Donnie:runaround:

You really must test the fuel pressure.....
