Indicator Problem

Hi Everyone,i have anAstra 1.7Dti Est 2001
My Problem is that every now and again my indicator will stay on constantly and will not flash ,when i switch of the ignition and take the key out of the switch , the indicator lights will still be on on one side of the car. If i try the otherside it will indicate and flash normaly, but i will have a small illumination on my Dashboard on the right hand side under the Fuel Gauge,i can only discribe it as a green oblong box with what looks like a tow bar coming out the end of it. This will last about 10 to 15 mins then it all goes back to normal, after trying the hazards and switching back and forwards with the indicator arm:banghead:
