I just had to replace the valves in the head on my 1991 1.0L metro and now it runs better than ever. I rebuilt the engine almost two years ago and after about 27k miles, exhaust valves on 2 and 3 decided to burn out. I believe it was the cat that caused it. So, once I got it running, I unbolted the exhaust pipe behind the cat and took a long piece of rebar and knocked all the guts out of it, onto the driveway. Now it has more power and runs cooler. Hopefully, the valve burning will no longer be no longer an issue.:iceslolan

I think it was a stupid idea to put a cat behind a lawn mower engine anyway.
