Under Hood Chirping and Noisy Fuel Pump

2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport 3.3L Flex, 114800 miles

I have 2 problems. One seems to be a common one among Caravans but I can't figure out. The other seems to be pretty straight forward.

#1 - Chirping, My van has crickets under the hood only when the AC is on. The AC works great. It is louder when hot. It is barely noticable when idling in park or neutral but when in reverse or drive, it is loud. I have replaced idler pulley, alternator, tensioner and pulley, belt (gatorback). All of these replacements seem to help for a couple of days and then the chirping is back.

#2 - Noisy fuel pump and a check engine light. When van sits all night, there might be a loud squeel when I first turn the key on and then the pump may be very loud. If I shut the key off and restart, it always goes back to the normal fuel pump sound. Also, a check engine light come on occasionally. The codes are P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306 which are misfires. I assume this to be fuel pump related. Also, I have about 40K miles on new champion platinum plugs and new wires and am thinking about changing them again. Fuel filter was changed at 85K miles.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Changed the fuel pump and filter today and I can barely hear it. Man, the other one must have been on its last legs. Drove it to fill up with gas and I think it actually runs better, has more power, and idles smoother.

Now, if i can just figure out the chirping.

Good luck on the chirp. I, too have that problem. I have a 97 with a new water pump and I returned the belt twice before I broke down and got a tensioner. Each time it was OK for a few days then it came back. I just gave up on it, although it does seems to be gettig better.

I also have an 03 that is starting to chirp a little as well.

hmmm...

If you figure it out please post it.
