Bad multifunction switch related to brake fuse?Elliott000 07-08-2009, 08:36 PM I have a 1997 blazer and have some light issues again. Both my brake fuse and turn signal fuse blow this time. My turn signal fuse blows only when the right turn signal is activated, takes about 3 seconds or flashes then pop, also when signaling right the dash lights dim out but the right signal indicator does not come on. The brake fuse is instant as soon as i hit the pedal. The multi function switch has obvious burns on 2 wires beside eachother right at the attaching point to the switch i can attach a pic if youd lke. I have a new MFswitch but im weary to put it in in case the problem is elsewhere and then i cook the new one too. Do you think the brake light fuse is related to the short in my MF switch, when i disconnect the white 12v out to brake lights wire from the pedal switch the fuse no longer blows, but theres lots of wire between the pedal and the lights other then the MF switch? Any ideas Help Thanks, Elliott MT-2500 07-09-2009, 09:42 AM I have a 1997 blazer and have some light issues again. Both my brake fuse and turn signal fuse blow this time. Any ideas Help Thanks, Elliott Could be. Proper testi g will tell. Get a wiring diagram on it and unplug switch and catch the turn signals/brake lights wires coming out and jumper the with a 12 volt light 5/10 amp fused jumper wire and see if the blow the fuse. If so it is in the brake/turn signal circuit. If not may be switch or flasher relay. Elliott000 07-10-2009, 12:24 AM so it is not the multi function switch, i have narrowed it down to any where between the body to front of dash harness connector c215 and the tail light itself..... whats the best way to check a wire for short to ground other then a full visual inspection, or is there? The continuity is OK, i checked for resistance and i get a normal reading ken_man_1 07-10-2009, 09:30 AM so it is not the multi function switch, i have narrowed it down to any where between the body to front of dash harness connector c215 and the tail light itself..... whats the best way to check a wire for short to ground other then a full visual inspection, or is there? The continuity is OK, i checked for resistance and i get a normal reading I would probably pull the bulbs and check your power lines for a ground. If you get a ground, you got a pinched wire or a burnt wire. Elliott000 07-10-2009, 08:08 PM alright i located the wire and have it diaconnected, it is in the trailer wiring provision. Will track it later to find the short, thanx for the help gentleman. Elliott000 07-11-2009, 01:26 AM okay so i was wrong BUT. something under the dash i am assuming that i was moving around must have corrected the issue because they worked for 15 minutes of driving then i noticed no signals? should i just do my best on a visual inspection on the wires under the dash? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
