coolant leakfocus1 07-08-2009, 06:02 PM Hi everyone i have 2002 focus wagon 2.0 liter ztec my problem is i had a coolant leak coming from my thermostat housing i took it to my local dealer they replace the thermostat housing the gasket and the thermostat i have put about 30,000 km since that job has been done and it is leaking again from the same spot now iam just wondering if there is something else wrong with it any help would be greatly appreciated rhandwor 07-09-2009, 09:15 PM http://www.focushacks.com/?modid=59&ht=Replacingthethermostatand/orthermostat housing Dorman makes a cast iron replacement they last a lot longer. Look on http://www.amazon.com/ search thermostat housing. I think its Dorman 902-201 focus1 07-17-2009, 03:43 PM Can i not just replace the gasket instead of replace whole housing cause i believe there is nothing wrong with it rhandwor 07-17-2009, 04:16 PM It depends on what's wrong with it a lot of the casings crack but I didn't look at the car. focus1 07-17-2009, 05:10 PM i know i replaced the housing the gasket and the thermostat and it leaks in the same spot under the housing then onto the tranny so it needs to get replaced again rhandwor 07-19-2009, 07:10 PM How about telling us how it went and what you found. Look at the link with pictures. focus1 07-21-2009, 04:26 PM i found when took the first one apart the gasket on the housing was damaged and the housing was cracked the second was leaking in the same spot the gasket and housing was fine i went to my local ford dealer they told me the part numbers had changed for the housing so they told me it might be better than the one i had so i think i will try that and see what happens rhandwor 07-21-2009, 04:35 PM Use adhesive to glue the gasket in place so it doesn't slip during installation. The other side uses an o-ring per the picture. focus1 07-22-2009, 06:09 PM what kind of adhesive glue should i use and i dont know what you mean by the other gasket rhandwor 07-22-2009, 08:28 PM I think I made a mistake the O-ring is the only one. Older Fords had a gasket. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
