Transmission Issue90gmcmoneypit 07-07-2009, 10:37 AM 1995 LTC, 4.6 122k Transmission starting to give me some issues. Slipping after it's been run for extended periods. On a cold start, less than 20 mile trip its fine. But on the highway after driving a distance it will slip out of OD and then catch again. Fluid was low so I added more, but it wasn't burnt. The thing that concerns me is the consistency of the fluid. It's almost water, as if it's been dilluted. I've had the car for 3 months and it's hasnt leaked fluid at all. Since I've added fluid it has yet to slip, but I'm concerned none the less. Any input?? danielsatur 07-07-2009, 12:40 PM Visual Inspect and consider new fluid & filter! pmpmrs@amigo.net 07-07-2009, 09:17 PM moneypit, my 95 started doing the same thing. I took it to cottman tx shop in colorado springs and asked them to replace the "selector" a black plastic box on the outside left (drivers) side of the tx. Mine got water in it and it is supposed to move the ball inside smoothly, and mine was real jerky.= problem solved... mike Kitt1993 07-07-2009, 09:49 PM It could be the shift module, but if the fluid is as thin as water, then I would recommended slowly replacing the fluid, like a couple of quarts over a period of 3 weeks, Then I would change the filter and put the Ford stop slip in it. Its a mercon additive that Ford makes to prevent the torque converter from shuttering. Hope this helps. 90gmcmoneypit 07-08-2009, 12:55 PM Thanks for the input. I've had a couple shops tell me that the bolts holding the throttle valve may need to be torqued and that's a major problem with the AODE transmissions. Debating this possible fix, but they want 175 just to pull the pan and CHECK to see if that's the issue. 175 bucks for the POTENTIAL that this is the problem. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
