2006 Malibu 4-cyl 2.2L troubleAndLind87 07-06-2009, 05:14 PM Hello there, hopefully somebody can give me some help. The transmission of my car started having trouble shifting, put some fluid and some Lucas in it and it and it helped a little at first. Then one day I put it in cruise and the rpms jumped from 2 to 6 rpms and lost all power and died. The check engine light came on so I got cranked back up and took it to Autozone and had them pull the code. I can't remember the number but the error was this : Cylinder misfire detected-random cylinders. The guy at Autozone said its was most likely the spark plug boot being cracked, so I bought new spark plugs, new boots, even a new coil pack, didn't fix the problem, still shifted terribly, but the check engine light went away and cruise control worked again. So the other day I was sitting at a red light and the car lurched against the brake and died and the check engine light came on again. Took it back to Autozone, had them pull the code, same as the one before, plus a new one: Catalyst efficiency low bank 1. So my question is this, has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix it? Thanks in advance slls 07-09-2009, 11:57 AM Have your catalytic converter checked out.
