Oil Pressure Gage Spikes when gas peddle is pushedJohn_Halvorsen 07-05-2009, 05:21 PM I have a 92 Transport 3.8L that when you hit the gas peddle the oil gage will start to surge and eventually spike all the way up and will not go down until you drop the RPM's below 2K. I think this is causing the computer to freakout and the van starts smoking and running bad. As soon as you bring it back down and let it sit again for a little and run the smoke goes away and the van runs fine. Anybody else seen this problem of have any ideas????? 96tsport 07-07-2009, 12:51 PM Might just be a grounding/wiring issue; clean up all the wires involved in the sender/oil pressure gauge circuit, as well as the main grounds & the BAT terminals. If no diff.. have a mech check the oil pressure (at high rpm) independently (or another way) to see if the gauge is reading right or not. If handy, you could get a cheap aftermarket oil pressure gauge & hook it up to see if it reads the same as the one on the car. Dunno if a false (high) oil pressure reading would mess up the 'pute. John_Halvorsen 07-09-2009, 06:28 PM Thank you. I think I found that someone in trying to help my wife put tranny fluid in the oil. Changed the oil and it was way to thin and runny to be just motor oil. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
