96 astro security system questionaartod 07-05-2009, 12:54 PM In my 96 astro it has a keyless entry stystem in which you have to push the unlock button (on keychain) anytime you want to start it- It clicks over and over again until you push it. Lately every once and a while it will just start clicking while i am driving it and I have to push the button to get it to stop. I took a look at the electronic parts of this under the dash and it looks like a real pain in the a$$... Is there any way to disable this system and still have the keyless entry? Since I has been acting up a bit lately I am a little concerned that it will fail me sonetime soon and leave me unable to start my van-- and I think it is dumb to always have to push a stupid button to start it! old_master 07-05-2009, 03:48 PM Sounds to me like an aftermarket system, if so, go the the manufacturers website and look for an installation manual for the model that you have. It should have a pdf that you can download with a schematic of the system and you can disable all but the power locks. If you need help understanding the schematic, post the website in this thread. aartod 07-08-2009, 12:06 AM You were right it was an aftermarket system... it used the keyless entry system as the trigger for the starter cut-off. It was soooo easy to remove- kinda pointless because any one who knows how to steal a car could figure out how to get past this! (it even had a schmatic diagram on the side of it!!!) Well anyways, thank you for the reply... old_master 07-08-2009, 07:05 PM Glad you found the problem, thanks for posting back with the fix. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
