3 letter word searching on this forumsearcherrr 06-30-2009, 01:56 PM How come I can't just search for ICM in the search? I have to enter more letters and every time I do, "IE: icm idle" all I get are results with "IDLE" and NONE with ICM. Anybody? '97ventureowner 06-30-2009, 02:04 PM I guess that's just the way the search parameters are setup with the forum software. I've had similar issues myself in the past when I needed to search a 2 or 3 letter word and couldn't. You could try sending a PM to the site's administrators,(twospirits or igor@af) and ask why it is set up like that and if there is a possibility it could be changed. searcherrr 06-30-2009, 02:07 PM Thank you for the speedy reply. I will try them both. Selectron 06-30-2009, 03:41 PM I use the Google 'site search' feature instead, whereby you can request Google to search only one specific domain. Google is fond of trying to correct what it thinks are spelling errors, so I enclose acronyms within quotation marks to prevent it from doing that. To search the whole of Automotive Forums for ICM, I would enter this into Google: site:www.automotiveforums.com "icm" Adding Ford Windstar narrows it down so that most of the results returned (not many, by the way) are from within the Windstar forum. So that looks like this: site:www.automotiveforums.com ford windstar "icm" With the many three-letter acronyms which we use as a matter of routine, it would help a lot if we could search for them from within AF. searcherrr 06-30-2009, 05:00 PM Word up ! That is a great suggestion and I thank you for it, Selectron... It should be put on a sticky at the top of this forums, as it is very hard to search for two and three-letter acronyms and words!
