FYI, I broke 100K today!!! I watched the the odometer roll 99,999 to 100,000 on the highway. So cool.

I have an ABS problem.

My ABS light came on after getting past 70mph.

And I was able to to reset by shut down and then start up, drive under 8mph for 1/2 mile according to the manual.

I ran a few test runs and it turns out that if I get past 70mph, the ABS light comes on. I can reset it easily enough but I wonder what's causing the issue.

Anyone else had a similar issue or any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

My money would be on a bad sensor or perhaps an intermittent wiring issue. It could be that in excess of 70 mph, there is sufficient vibration to cause a glitch.

Basically, the ABS is continuously looking at the speed of the rear differential and the two front wheels. When they don't match during braking, it is interpreted as a skidding/sliding event and the automatic brake pumping is engaged. If you're moving but not braking when when it happens, it's seen as a system problem and the ABS light comes on to warn you.

I'd take a good look underneath the truck and closely examine the wiring harnesses leading to the sensors.

Thats very useful info. I did not know that. I read almost everything there is on this forum on ABS issues and I am planning on checking the sensor and wiring when the sun came out (its been raining for the last 8 days here in the NE).

Definitely new info to me at least regarding how the ABS is checking speeds.

Thank you for the reply!
