2001 Alero 3.4L, just noticed that its been starting at high RPM and if keeped in park and you don't touch the brake pedal it just keeps increasing. But once you hit the brake it goes back to normal. Also at random times while driving it starts increasing the RPM for no apparent reason. Any ideas?

Probably high IAC counts. Try removing the idle air controller (IAC) located on the throttle body and clean it. Carbon builds up on it. Also, be sure to clean the seat where the IAC mounts on the throttle body.

Where would that be located? I changed the oil and air filter and that help some.

On the throttle body which is the part the accelerator cable connects to and allows air into the engine. Between the upper intake manifold and air intake. See pics.

And please use caution or better judgment using the "Report Post" function to get assistance.
