96 oil leak

hello my 96 is leaking oil just below the filter,it looks like some kind of sensor becuse there is a wire connected to it and its threaded into the filter houseing,does anyone know what it is called..thanks mike

Without seeing it, I'd guess it is the oil pressure sensor. They can leak, simple replacement, probably run you less than $10 at your local auto part store...

that's your oil sending unit there known to leak on cont's my dad has a 1970 and i replaced that and it cured it oil presure went way up when i put it in. but this is a mark111 two door custom sport coupe in really good shape he's had it for 30 years never been in the rain and it's got the 460 in it. but yah your oil sending unit....

Yes there is a oil sending unit up there, it just might need some Teflon tape or pipe dope applied to the threads to seal it back up. There is also a gasket between that oil filter housing and the engine block, that's famous for leaking. I have that gasket leaking on my car right now. If you buy a new sending unit make sure you get the right one, they are different for the old gauge type and the digital dash.

it was the sensor...5$ at autozone....thanks for your help !!!
