McCleod and Hayes both offer flywheels for the Pontiac. Rebalancing will be necessary, as these are intended for racing and "internally balanced" engines. The Pontiac has a slight imbalance to the rear (6"-oz.). Using a stock flexplate or flywheel allows a balance shop to "duplicate" the condition on the new unit.

You COULD watch your local papers or trade sheets. Any Pontiac flywheel, '65-'75, will fit. You need a 10.4" clutch (10 1/2 in the "vernacular"). An 11" clutch would work, but no real need. Get a diaphragm type, NOT a Borg & Beck.

The '63 engine isn't really suited to the later body. Brackets are different, as well as the bellhousing. Water pump, balancer, pulleys, etc. are all different. And the 4-bbl. from the '73 will make more power than the TriPower, though TriPower sure is purdy!!!

Get Jim Hand's book "How to Build Max-performance Pontiac V8s" published by SA Designs. This is the only CURRENT study of the ol' Injun. Lots of good stuff in there!

BTW, even though many GTO afficianados "bad mouth" '73, I like it. The NACA scoops set it "off" nicely. And for as big a car as it is, it handles VERY well.

Let me know if you want to put some SERIOUS power to it...(:-

Love those 'Collonade' coupes. Imo the '73's were great cars.....
