Greetings TRBJ 06-14-2009, 11:16 AM ths for the smoke+yellow tip!!! Outamyhead 06-17-2009, 04:30 PM Nice work so far, I managed to pick up the very same model about a month ago, it might be the next build after my Mazda 787 get's finished off. Never built a model with PE yet, anything I should be aware of or any tools like an angle bender needed at all? gasdriverca 06-17-2009, 07:54 PM Is the mix of smoke and yellow suppose to be kevlar? if so nice one ! SuperMele 06-18-2009, 02:21 PM Never built a model with PE yet, anything I should be aware of or any tools like an angle bender needed at all? Hey outamyhead, first time i use pe also :uhoh: You need to bend some parts, like 1 and 2 from the pe set, they have to be in the same shape as the front wheel arches... Havent done that yet  Only bended one thing and thats the front towhook, needs to be an 90° angle but you can easily do that with tweezers... Is the mix of smoke and yellow suppose to be kevlar? I think so, i just mixed the paint with tamiya's instructions. Greetz rollover 06-18-2009, 05:08 PM It looks like your off to a good start. I like your detailing so far on the engine and bulkhead. lemansnut 06-18-2009, 08:17 PM Nice start so far. Tamiya has had a couple different mixes to try to simulate the kevlar, I think they use the same mix on the Mazda 787B. You should check some reference pictures for the rear crossmember though, it should not be opened up as you have done but webbed as the part is supplied. Keep going, it's a really nice kit. Looking forward to more progress. Mike SuperMele 06-21-2009, 01:40 PM Update time... Greetings klutz_100 06-21-2009, 02:09 PM Looks super! Almost makes me want to break out my Revel kit LOL Sebastian. 06-21-2009, 02:45 PM You have forgotten, that the forward part should be a single whole! You have not cleaned a crack where details are joined!! http://s39.radikal.ru/i086/0906/ef/ebcff1bb7d42.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru) :) SuperMele 06-21-2009, 03:07 PM You have forgotten, that the forward part should be a single whole! You have not cleaned a crack where details are joined!! On the boxart you can clearly see the pannelline of the 2 pieces... I dont really build my models 100% like in real life and spend time first on searching the web to see if its really intended to be build as tamiya says.:) guiwee 06-21-2009, 05:23 PM I dont understand why the p/e covers those vents..I mean why have vents at all if their gonna be covered up?This kit reminds me of my 956 Modelerone 06-21-2009, 05:30 PM I dont understand why the p/e covers those vents..I mean why have vents at all if their gonna be covered up?This kit reminds me of my 956 The vents might be open or covered depending on track and race variables. Open for a track with a lot of braking or very high temps to help cool the brakes or closed for better aerodynamics if additional cooling is not required. jano11 06-21-2009, 06:09 PM Looks super! Almost makes me want to break out my Revel kit LOL A good kit that one, because it's actually a Hasegawa! ;) rollover 06-21-2009, 07:12 PM Good job on the decals, they have always scared me away from this kit. Too many right angles and parrallel lines. What color did you use on the wheels? mulsannemike 06-21-2009, 09:37 PM I dont understand why the p/e covers those vents..I mean why have vents at all if their gonna be covered up?This kit reminds me of my 956 The vents, or louvers, are a means to adjust front aerodynamic balance. At a track like Le Mans, minimal drag is the desire. So the short chord single element rear wing, short front splitter are used to achieve that minimal drag figure. Therefore the front louvers aren't necessary as they would shift too much downforce forward (making the car condition towards oversteer) and would contribute to increasing drag. nakadds 06-21-2009, 10:00 PM http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010194~0.JPG Is this part (B1) suppose to have the openings? My reference pictures for this part(including the box art for the silver C9) show it to be a solid piece. Or are you going to do something to close up the openings? mulsannemike 06-21-2009, 10:10 PM http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010194%7E0.JPG Is this part (B1) suppose to have the openings? My reference pictures for this part(including the box art for the silver C9) show it to be a solid piece. Or are you going to do something to close up the openings? That frame can just be seen in the shot below just aft of the engine. It's a machined aluminum frame and the pockets are solid only being thinned (you can see the machining marks), not through-holed. http://www.gurneyflap.com/Resources/DSC_5462%201.jpg SuperMele 06-22-2009, 11:47 AM What color did you use on the wheels? Hey, i'm not a reference builder... I opened the part because there are a lot of sink marks, and i think it just looks better... nakadds 06-22-2009, 12:28 PM Hey, i'm not a reference builder... I opened the part because there are a lot of sink marks, and i think it just looks better... That's cool. I'm currently working on this car myself and was going to open it up until I looked more closely at the pics. It's actually kinda strange that it is a solid piece, you'd think the holes would be there on the real car to save weight. Great job so far, hope mine looks half as good. SuperMele 06-22-2009, 01:36 PM Small update: Parts in alclad: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010241~0.JPG http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010247~0.JPG Engine got color: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010244~0.JPG What could we do with this, more in the next update :): http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010248.JPG Cockpit has color: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010249~0.JPG Enginebay started: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/11363/P1010250.JPG Everything needs further detailing, washes and drybrushes... Greetz Rocat 06-22-2009, 03:24 PM very nice progress! godfather23 06-22-2009, 05:02 PM How hard where these decals to apply. To me it looks like it was kind of okay. Not too many round curves the decals needed to snuggle onto? The decal job looks very good as I canīt see any lines which donīt align correctly. Keep it up. Robert SuperMele 06-23-2009, 12:33 PM How hard where these decals to apply. Hey, they are easy to apply, its just big decals with clear decal in between. So the lines are always parallel. And because the car hasnt got hard bends, i consider it an easy decaljob. And you know before i started the kit i thought it was going to be a hard job of placing the decals :evillol: Greetz Outamyhead 06-24-2009, 03:54 PM Hey, they are easy to apply, its just big decals with clear decal in between. Got to finish the Mazda before that though. SuperMele 06-27-2009, 05:29 AM Clear is on, 2K from zero.
