Gas tank seal problem

Hey guys, man I haven't been on here in a while.... Well anyway, I swapped out my gasoline filler neck (rusted) on my 2000, and I did something wrong when I put it in and I'm 99% sure I just damaged the seal in the gas tank that goes around the pipe. So I was just wondering, do you guys think I could just put spray on foam around it or something? Or does it actually have to be replaced.

Thanks

I dunno man, gasoline is quite a solvent and would most likely eat through a lot of the quick fixes you could find at the hardware store. Might want to bite the bullet and do it over again.

Yeah that's what i'm thinking unfortunately. I did a little more research and found that the grommet around the filler tube there usually needs to be replaced if you take the tank off. It dry rots. So apparently it's pretty common for this to happen. Good thing is that it's only $20. It's really not very hard either.
