hey guys im new to the forums but not to dsm's, i have owned 4 dsm's one stroked and the rest 2.0L. I have never owned a non turbo or a FWD and just recently purchased my 5th dsm but the only problem its auto... but hounestly i fell in love with it. curently the motor is sitting on jack stands and i am ripping off the head tonight and ordering a shit load of parts on monday. I will post pics tonight as soon as the head is pulled and the shop is cleaned up.... ps my name is jordan and i own a 92 light green talon tsi awd:naughty:

thanks for the welcomes guys, now sorry i forgot to post pics up last night due to finding metal shavings in the oil pan, and discovering my car is going to need to be seriously honed. the good thing is when my timming belt snapped i thought i heard valves hit.... but i didnt they all look fine and there is no indication of valve slap on the pistons either.

on to a more serious note today i go to pick up my money for the build and in three days time i get to start ordering my part! pics will be posted late tonight

i just ordered my MHI BIG 16G and arp head studs along with cometic head gasket from punishment racing, mitsubishi pistons from slowboy racing and i am debating on purchasing a aem wide band ( i know i should it would just cut me really short on shipping funds ) and sorry about pics i totally forgot to post them, so i will try to get them up soon

You will NEED a wideband if you're doing any tuning. Also a logger or DSMLink

ok so the mhi turbo i bought never showed so i canceled and bought a new small 16G and new rod bearings and main bearings. also i just purchased a sparco steel seat

the deadline is aug. 21 because thats when our drag wars is and when i hope to make my 12 sec pass lol. and i will start reconstruction on wednesday so i should be good as long as i dont run into any problems. and as for fuel upgrades i have 750cc injectors but they wont be going to be put on till i buy myself a afpr and either get a supra mkiv fuel pump or a wally 255 but as long as i run stock boost or just a little higher i should be good

dsm link once i come up with the funds. and the injectors will not be put on the car till i have dsm link and a wally 255 and a afpr

well i failed my goal but have a new one.

the new goal is as followed:

either sell the car to get a better talon or put another 2500 into it and change the new small 16G out for a big 16 and fmic with dsm link , afrc, and some other little peices

well i ran a dq hahaha... right before it was my turn on the track a track official guy came up and told me i was leaking somethin... i got out and my tranny was pissing fluid everywhere by the time i found out what it was the street class was finished... now i have to wait two years before i can see what it runs... fun fun hey

this is the head gasket i decided not to go with... i forgot to take a pic of the 4 layer but this is my spare haha...

now whats not shown is the mitsu main bearings, rod bearings, piston rings, pistons, manley i beam rods, mitsu 4 layer head gasket, ngk 7es plugs, ngk plug wires, i did purchase a new k&n but it never showed up. im looking for a fpr, walbro 255, wideband, apexi exhaust system, down pipe, new head with 272s and adjustable gears, ported 2G intake mani, fp intake tube, fp exhaust mani, mhi big 16g and defi gauges... got any of those parts let me know we can work something out... oh and if u are upgrading to dsm link v3 i will be happy to take v2 off ur hands lol

because i live in a pretty hick little town and the colsest city with a drag strip only host a drag wars every 2 years. i could always go to calgary but thats 6 and a haalf hour drive and thats risky for any dsm haha

Thats rediculous. Our drag strip has test and tune night every wednesday night. Thats when we get to run all the street cars.

so is it normal for a dsm that only has 180xxxkm on it to need a motor rebuild??? cause this this had really low km on it and ya it needed this rebuild...

Depends on how bad the engine has beat on, if it has been taken care of then you may never have to rebuild but if the motor is beat then it may only survive 100,000 miles

well the previous owner told me a punk kid put that boost controller on it and cranked it to 19 psi on the factory 13b turbo needless to say that turbo needs some serious love haha... i have it set at 7psi for break in but if any of you guys have a spare oem boost controller please let me know i want this ebay peice off my car

Boost is controlled via the wastegate on any stock car. Just take out the controller and hook it all up correctly.
