Hard 1st to 2nd ShiftColoradoSilverado 06-11-2009, 08:01 AM On my 2000 5.3 ext. cab 4WD my tranny just started the hard shifting from 1st to 2nd, it did it before almost three years ago, then I installed the TransGo Shift kit and it has been fine for about 62,000 miles until now. Any thoughts ? I'm at 186,000 miles now. I changed the fluid and filter once since installing the shift kit. Bert http://i42.tinypic.com/28gtp1z.jpg 2000CAYukon 06-11-2009, 07:22 PM Personally, I change tranny fluid ever 25K. How many miles since the last change? Fluid level is good? Good color? Does it have a burnt smell to it? //2000CAYukon ColoradoSilverado 06-12-2009, 07:34 PM Well it's shifting fine now, last week I changed my oil/filter and air filter, when I took out the old air filter I also took off the housing to clean the inside. Ever since that day I got a SES light and it started the hard 1 to 2 shift. Took it today to read the codes, turned out to be the MAF sensor, me in my bright moment forgot to reconnect the MAF sensor plug, so anyway....cleared the code and now it shifts just fine. I can't for the life of me understand how the MAF sensor would cause the hard shift ? Anyone ? ColoradoSilverado 06-13-2009, 09:50 AM I guess I should have mentioned that. On another note...does anyone know what size socket I need to take the front wheel hub off ? Bert 36 rental from most parts stores. i bought mine from local tire shop for 10 bucks. you can just pop the cap off it, drive to any close by tire shop, :naughty:ask them to loosen it for you enough to drive back. much easier than bending wheel studs:nono::nono: with prybar, trying to prevent hub from spinning. j cAT 06-14-2009, 10:07 AM 36 rental from most parts stores. i bought mine from local tire shop for 10 bucks. you can just pop the cap off it, drive to any close by tire shop, :naughty:ask them to loosen it for you enough to drive back. much easier than bending wheel studs:nono::nono: with prybar, trying to prevent hub from spinning. I when removing the NUT have the vehicle on the ground. then when it is loose jack up and begin disassembly.. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
