Hey guys. I have a 01 cabrio that shakes when you accelerate and im now starting to hear a "clunk" when i hit the gas and another "clunk" when i let off of the gas. I'm thinking its the axel... If so is that fairly easy to replace myself? I always do all work myself but never tackled anything to do with an axel. I also see they sell right and left axel assemblies so it could only be one of the right?

How many miles on your car? I'm thinking your motor mounts are bad. Any transmission shop should be able to handle it.

106k lol ... i had it up on a lift and theres some play in the axel? is that normal?

I had the same exact problem a couple of weeks ago. It is the engine mounts. This is a fairly serious problem that you should take in immediately because the longer you wait, the more problems this wobbling causes and the more it'll cost you. And not to mention, the engine mounts are holding your engine in place... them being loose is dangerous.
