If your clutch pedal ever goes to the floorDavez69gto 06-02-2009, 10:39 PM I've solved this on my own but i couldn't find a posting anywhere that told me what's going on. 95 jetta Problem: Clutch pedal hits the floor. It will not disengage the clutch and only goes back up if you pull it up. Fist check the easy stuff. i.e. the cable going to the tranny. Next if it's not that go out to your neighborhoot vw dealership and get a clutch release finger and the green cap on the end of the tranny. It's the shape of a 6. VW decided that they would have the release bearing on the outside of the tranny and then have an arm pulled by the cable. the arm is attached to a rod and a finger is on that finger pushes on a release bearing which pushes on a rod that goes all the way to the other side of the tranny. last that rod pushes on a plate which releases the clutch. I learned the hard way. order: (pedal)-->(cable)-->(lever(front of tranny))-->(rod that is part of lever(is parrallel w/ the car, front to back))-->(finger thing(prob broken))-->(release bearing)-->(rod(goes from left to right in the tranny, all the way through))-->(clutch) Anyway the job takes about an hour. 1st remove you tire 2nd remove your mud cover so you have access to the green cap on the tranny 3rd release the cable from the tranny (a pain but you can figure it out) 4th take a screwdriver to the green cap makeing sure to remove it and get nothing inside of the tranny 5th remove the clip around the finger. 6th slide the rod that is attached to the arm out. It will move to the left. 7th slide rod in and put the new finger and spring back on when half way in 8th replace the clip 9th pop the new green cap back on w/ a rubber hammer. 10th put mud thing and tire back on. DONE! also keep an oil pan available and grab some extra gear oil b/c you will lose some when you take off that cap. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
