04 Intrepid "jerks" when accelerating (3.5)

It has only been a couple of days that I've noticed it. On the way home, the engine temperature was normal (not noticeable when it's cold), and the car started to intermittently stall/jerk only when my foot was on the gas. As soon as the car was idling at a set of lights, or when it was coasting, there was no problem. I could hear the engine cut in and cut out when it started to happen.

Suddenly, the oil light came on, and my steering wheel seized, my brake pedal was really difficult to push down, but I was able to "force" the car to the side of the road. It sounded like the car was still on, but it was inoperable. I turned off the engine, and a minute later (because I'm a girl), tried to turn the engine on. It started fine, but the "Check Engine" light came on. Then, everytime the car would rev upon acceleration into the 2000-3000RPM range, the engine cut out, so I coudln't go any faster than 30kph.

Any ideas? Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

It could be a number of things. However, it sounds like you have more than one issue here.

After you started the car back up did the brakes and steering work fine again or did you still have problems?

When the car started up again, the steering and brakes were fine... The problem only reoccurred when I tried accelerating.

sounds like your brake booster behind your master cylender. when you push on brakes is it hard as a rock? if so i would check to see if you hear a vaccum leak if so that would make your car miss like your saying and that tells me that the booster is bad?
