2003 F250 4 wheel dr started to quit like the fuel filter is plugged. That has been changed and seemed to run for a week or so then just would not start. Pulled the connector off the sensor and reconnected then ok for a few days then a burb while driving one day then the next day after 40 50 miles I stopped and wouldn't start. Replugged the sensor and then ok.
Any ideas?

The camshaft position sensor (CMP) is a known weak point on the 7.3L diesel engine. I believe it's the subject of a Ford safety recall because of the potentially dangerous stalling issue. You can check if your vehicle is covered under the recall on this Ford page (http://www.ford.com/owner-services/customer-support/recall-information), with further details of the recall on this page (http://www.ford.com/dynamic/metatags/article-detail/223-ford-initiates-voluntary-safety-recall).

A couple of other forum members have reported the same issues with unpredictable stalling and near-stalling, first in this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=664987), in which it was confirmed that the CMP was the culprit, and then in this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t922874.html) - never did get confirmation on that one but the owner didn't return for further advice so I assume a new CMP fixed the problem.

If you end up doing the replacement yourself, there's some useful information here (http://www.guzzle7pt3.com/cps.php).
