F1s in Gaming - Representation Accuracies and Inaccuraciesdbsf1 05-27-2009, 07:46 PM **this post is in the editing process ;) am pretty busy atm but will try to get it sorted asap** Hi! A thread to list your experiences of how different F1 models have been represented - either well or not-so-well - in console/pc games. I will compile a list in this first post of all the known instances of F1s in games. (most of these thanks to BRX880 at this stage!) MCLAREN F1 NFS II/SE {1997}[PS, PC] - BRX880 NFS Hot Pursuit II{2002}[PC, Xbox, GameCube, PS2] - BRX880 NFS Pro Street - BRX880 NFS Undercover - BRX880 TDU - BRX880 MCLAREN F1 LM NFS VI Hot Pursuit II - BRX880 PGR3 - BRX880 PGR4 - BRX880 TDU - BRX880 MC3DUB - dbsf1 MCLAREN F1 GT TDU - BRX880 FM2 - BRX880 MCLAREN F1 GTR NFS IV High Stakes ('96 road)BRX880 TDU ('96 road)BRX880 GT4 ('97 race)BRX880 GRID ('95 race)BRX880 SEGA Scud Race ('96 race - Gulf livery)F1GTRUeno Enthusia Pro Racing ('95/'96 race - a variation on the FINA livery)F1GTRUeno I know there's lots of games that feature the F1 in most, if not all of it's guises, and I'm sure some of you here must have copies of those! Lets go :grinyes: BRX880 05-28-2009, 05:51 AM To begin with, here is a list of games (I know) which officially contain versions of the F1: I will only list games for PC and the major consoles - no handhelds! I shall kick it off with Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, which I have on PSP; and Forza 2 which I have played before on a 360. Anyone with better images than what are here (I just did a quick google search for the mclarens in these games - easier and clearer than taking my own!) please let me know! And please contribute your own views on these games, and any others you have come across! MCLAREN F1 LM Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition on PSP http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu167/dbsf1/674-1.jpghttp://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu167/dbsf1/art_2969_id_3_mw_520-2.jpg -Generally well rendered. Air vent/scoop on one side only consistent with real LMs. Main problem: Appears to be a turbo blow-off valve (?) sound  MCLAREN F1 GT Forza Motorsport 2 on Xbox 360 http://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu167/dbsf1/1178335679.jpghttp://i644.photobucket.com/albums/uu167/dbsf1/Der_GolF_191242-1.jpg -The best look at a GT we're ever likely to get! I wonder if the renderers (?) got to look at one when renderising (?) it??? Appears very highly detailed (and fitted with the thinner, seemingly more recent rims - as opposed to the Scottish photoshoot ones). This game also features the 1997 McLaren #41 Gulf Team McLaren F1 GTR, and the 1997 #43 Team BMW Motorsport McLaren F1 GTR - both to a similarly high standard. F1GTRUeno 05-29-2009, 02:06 PM A Gulf GTR (the 96 livery I think) is in the classic SEGA Arcade game 'Scud Race' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSA6z19XPV0 There was a Bigazzi GTR in Enthusia Professional Racing as well. http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/article/608/608332/enthusia-professional-racing-20050428034607906_640w.jpg http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/article/592/592352/enthusia-professional-racing-20050301021611988_640w.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZNDHZMhn48 rFactor and GTR/2/Evo/etc have had F1's made for them. BRX880 05-30-2009, 05:23 AM A Gulf GTR (the 96 livery I think) is in the classic SEGA Arcade game 'Scud Race' Yeah, I remember playing that game a lot in game centers/Sega parks back in the 90's!! :) It has a 1996 GTR in Gulf livery. Though I think only very very few people have this 'maschine' actually at home... PS: I've edited post #2 BRX880 05-30-2009, 06:11 AM rFactor and GTR/2/Evo have had F1's made for them. I’m not so knowledgeable about those games, but as far as I know no F1 was/is originally available for them. It is, however, available through addons done by modding teams afterwards. This also counts for several NFS titles where F1's were created as unofficial addon by different persons/teams (though the quality was not the best back then...). BRX880 05-30-2009, 06:12 AM According to latest news, the upcoming NFS Shift will also include the F1: http://www.virtualr.net/need-for-speed-shift-full-car-track-list/ :) dbsf1 05-30-2009, 06:51 AM thanks for all the new info guys! have added f1gtrueno's content and will update with the more detailed versions of brx880's soon  @ BRX880 - 'DLC' = downloadable content... right? as in it didn't come in the box with the game so to speak.... just checking lol thanks again, and keep it coming (if there even IS any more...) peace BRX880 05-30-2009, 07:05 AM 'DLC' = downloadable content... right? right! F1GTRUeno 06-02-2009, 06:05 PM Just remembered two more games from my childhood. The first PS1 game I ever played was a classic called Total Drivin', this game had allsorts of different cars but they weren't exactly licensed. You raced as one of I think it was about 6 drivers, all of different nationalities, each of the different drivers had five different types of cars to suit the environment you were racing in. So on street circuits, you used either Champ Cars or Sportscars. If I remember correctly, there was an Esprit, an EB110, a Viper GTS, F355, a Diablo, and last, but not least, an F1 GTR. You'll see it here in white and blue at around a minute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbzK3A2oZX0&feature=related Unfortunately it's not the greatest quality, but I'll go on the game tomorrow and see if I can get a decent picture of it cause I still have my original disc from way back when. And secondly, with not such a big write up....they released a Le Mans game in 98 or 99, can't remember exactly when, but as you'll see in this video, it features the EMKA Longtail, and the Loctite Longtail from 98. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF1rD0Y9inY&feature=related BRX880 06-03-2009, 04:18 AM Thanks for the update  PS: I've edited post #2 ArnoldWong 06-03-2009, 09:51 AM Le Man 06-04-2009, 05:31 PM If anybody is interested I have one (or two or more?) of the Infogrames LeMans 24 hours PC game "circa 98" brand new boxed, still in their shrink wrap. Features Bchers Loctite GTR and I think the Orouke EMKA GTR. Free to anybody who pays the postage!! First come, first served. Will post some pics sometime over the weekend. Peloton25 10-06-2009, 11:32 PM Sega Super GT arcade game: http://www.ngfusa.com/arcade/gtexpert2.jpg Also - Forza Motorsport 3 preview with GTR #22R. :smokin: http://forzamotorsport.net/uploadedImages/_assets/Car_of_the_Day/COD_day5_2.jpg Link: http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/car_of_the_day/mclarenf1gulf.aspx >8^) ER hurstg01 10-07-2009, 12:49 PM I've never really been interested in this sort of thing - what's the attraction? Am I missing out? Peloton25 10-07-2009, 03:35 PM I used to love racing games, but haven't played one in many years now. Besides the very early ATARI stuff, the first one I played was the original Test Drive back in 1987 and I have played most of them since then. The last one I bought was GT4 for the Playstation2 when it was new, but I quickly found during the license test portion the handheld controllers just don't cut it anymore. The interface has gotten so sophisticated that you really need a steering wheel and pedals to be able to have any real fun with it. To position yourself properly to use those items it helps to have a gaming cockpit and that's even more money. If I had lots of money I'd probably skip over game-console stuff and buy one of those mega-buck racing simulators. They've gotten pretty sophisticated now. I satisfy my craving a little differently by going go-karting every once in a while. >8^) ER basman007 10-08-2009, 07:12 AM Forza is only on xbox? :(:(:( What's the game with the nicest cars (preferably supercars; not tuned civics etc) and the best graphics? I only have a pc.. In 2010 I can set up a decent pc, steeringwheel and television. Now, I only need a playseat :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
