i have this posted on a scale auto forum but its not getting any attention maybe because it doesn't have carbs...LOL.

anyways, i got lucky and scored a huge toyota lot on ebay it had close to 8 toyota chasis and exteriors all needing parts, but shipped from hawaii it was less than 25 bucks total, so i decided to do an sw20 production build, but being an avid scratch builder and resin caster i had to take the fujimi kit to the next level.

thank god tamiya has a fairly accurate 3sgte for me to work with as a base in the st205 celica gt-four, i cast it using the oyumaru method i learned on here.

then it was gray primer.

then tamiya fine white primer.

oh yeah, the supra is getting a modified 3s-gte swapped instead of the 2jz, the idea behind the twin sw20 and supra is a race pair, they will be done up as if they are on the same team, the supra is basically my dream of a FR behind the front axel supra...its going to be given a high powered 3sgte that mounted behind the front axle line, you can get 600hp out of a 3s-gte easily now adays, so why not downsize to a 4 cylinder if you can keep it all behind the front axle (shrug). so because of that, one of the sw20s, the red one is going to be curbside (also so i can entered it into curbside catagorys at model shows), and its giving its motor to the supra....i still have a st185 and corolla wrc car i need the other two 3sgte's for.

I have the same MR2 kit that I'm wanting to do up like the 1:1 I used to own. Problem is the kits is a '93 and my car was an '89-'90 so the rear lights are the wrong shape as are the wheels and I'll need to add in a targa top. Being new to the hobby I of course have no idea how to do this so I'm gonna follow this build and if its ok ask a few questions of you. I love this shape MR2, it was the best car I've had and you're lucky enough to be building 3 of them.

Fujimi's SW20 kit was originally created as the 89-90 style with a T-top. The mold was updated twice, to reflect the 93 T-top, and the Initial D's fixed roof and a different engine cover. You just have to wait for the right kit to show up on eBay.

hirofkd, hey i just swung by your site, wow, bookmarked, thanx for all the indepth builds listed on your site, what a resource of information. thanks for checking in on my build.

and yeah the deck lid is the main difference that fujimi really didn't bother to sort out after the release of the initial d kit. keep an eye on the ebay and you can catch a correct deck lidded turbo everyonce and awhile. i'm continueing with the build using the incorrect deck lids as i bide my time waiting for a correct turbo at a decent price. when i get one i will cut out the deck lid, and then i will mold and cast it. the plan is to carbon fiber them so i don't have to paint match. *shrugs* i view models as a static display that can be changed at anytime, so upgrading them after they are "done" is something i continually do. just like a regular car i have restored some of my past builds, as my skills increase.

exteriors done, i moved onto undertrays, and interiors. i thought i would try something.

flat blacked, stock.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j252/petergrave5/PICT0390.jpg

regular painters masking tape. thick stuff....lots of texture.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j252/petergrave5/PICT0402.jpg

flat blacked over the tape, the result.

this is pretty much the red cars interior and tub as they are right now, this model is staying low key for the "curbside" catagory in model shows, no engine going into this one, i'll knock it out first so i can use it to compare to the highly modified ones as they will take much longer.

not quite sure if i am sticking with the stock interior for the modded mr2's...these were some quick looks at some other dashes i am considering, keeping it toyota its a soarer dash and a digital dash from the ae92.

Haha, I do the same tape method for all of my model dashes. I discovered it by accident when I forgot to unmask a part.

These are looking good.

Nice MR2! I have a couple of similar projects on ice, last time i touched a kit was 2006 looking at your work gets me inspired to start doing some modeling again. Love MR2's keep up the good work.

hey sneeky i actually found your builds months ago using the search feature, it seems like you had the gt-four 3sgte into a fujimi sw20 idea before i did, they look great also. But i don't like the idea of wasting a kit, so i taught myself molding and resin casting. I think all true mr2 fans who are serious modellers have probably thought about it at some point, ofcourse that might just be me and you, from what i have seen...hopefully i will be able to reverse that type of thinking. The better we build, the higher we raise the mark right?

and yeah mr2's have a special place in my driveway...always had an aw11 in the 1:1 collection since 2001, i also autocross/drift them when i get a weird urge.

^ Yeah mine was ambitous MR2 build, I wanted it super detailed and build it just like my SW20.

So far all ive done is cut out the doors, bonnet, engine cover, boot, headlights etc...I never posted it here but i got progress pictures, last time i worked on it was some time ago so everything is on hold until i finish other builds like my Veilside MR2 its 99.5% there but i just cant seem to finish it.

Good luck with your build, it looks great so far, have fun with it especially with the suspension, the Fujimi MR2 rides like a hummer!
