The best modern muscle car for me would have to be the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8

Not a BAD looking car, but looks too much like the old one for me. I'm not a big fan of "retro". I understand they finally put a "real" engine in them. You do realize that's the same car underneath as Magnum, Charger and 300, right? I HAVE become "fond" of thCharger. The looks have "grown" on me...(:-

For me, the best MODERN muscle car is the only TRUE modern muscle car. Same initials as the FIRST muscle car... GTO! (let the bantering begin!)

Nope, didn't realize you own a Charger. That's okay, this is America... You're allowed... Hell, there's people out there owning Toyotas... (:-

I'm a 50 year old guy who once owned a 70 Challenger. Dodge did a nice job on the redo but to me it looks odd with out the chrome bumbers front and rear. I think the new Camaro and latest Mustang looks better. The Challengers interior styling could have been closer to the 70 also I think. The 70 Challenger was a fantactic looking car ! A true legendary automobile!

I agree with all of that exept for the camaro and mustang looking better, they come in close but the charger takes it hands down. and I honestly hate the 2010 mustang's look, I liked the 2009 though, just not a fan of it being so rounded off

I grew up Mopar. I have pics sanding down the fender of a 69 charger at 3 years old. I'm no stranger to the chargers, roadrunners, and mopars of yesteryear. My complaint with the Challenger is weight. It is the heaviest of the new ponycars. I also wonder why Dodge went with the iron block instead of the aluminum like the mustang and camaro?

If I was going for looks alone I would have to go with the Camaro. However, the thing that would tip the scales for me is what type of aftermarket turbo, not supercharger kit is available for the Challenger or Camaro.

The mustang is simply out. The platform is way to old. I learned to drive on a '67 and mother drove a '69 mach 1 that I helped restore growing up. The mustangs have never been able to put down impressive numbers for the amount of money you shell out with the exception of the last body style supercharged cobras. Don't believe me? 2002 Trans Ams rolled off the showroom floor for $22k with 320hp. How much hp does a new GT have and what is the price tag?

Maybe, it leaked a quart of oil and transmission fluid a week, I guess as long as you didn't know that you would think it was a fine car. Lol.

Hey a 67 mustang is a 67 mustang wether it leaks or not. Very nice

And the 2003 mustang cobra rolled off the floor at $33,000 and 390hp
this battle goes to the trans am

but in 2004 the GTO rolled off the floor with 350hp at 32,000 and the mustang at 35,000 with 390 hp

2004 GTO- $91.43 per HP
2004 Mustang- $89. 74 per HP

Not to mention in 2009
Mustang Shelby- $86 per HP
G8- $89

and I used different models cause there wasn't an 04 trans am. And for some reason there was no 2009 GTO on cars.com

The '09 "entry" from Pontiac is G8 GXP. 405 HP, mid-13s off the showroom floor,
"under $30K".

Is the 390 HP Mustang "normally aspirated" ? Or does it have a blower? '05 and '06 GTO had 400 HP for the same price as the '04.
