99 Caravan hesitating on freewayCL8 05-17-2009, 07:43 PM In the past two weeks my Caravan has been having hesitation (ever so slight but it is there), especially on the freeway. it feels like its a problem from the fuel line. It has 117,000 miles. Could it just be the higher ethanol they are putting in the gasoline now, or would there likely be a more serious problem in the fuel line, and how could I tell? Thanks, cl8 Vats 05-17-2009, 09:31 PM when did you last have the spark plugs replaced? Bear 05-17-2009, 09:36 PM Or the fuel filter changed. autotech234 05-18-2009, 01:04 PM if it has not been tuned up yet it is over due. I would start by changing spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, and air filter. CL8 05-19-2009, 12:39 AM I can't say I remember the last time I had spark plugs or the fuel filter changed, But in march when I had the oil changed I asked my mechanic to inspect my vehicle because I was going on a 300 mile trip, one way, is that something he could have missed? How often should those be replaced? thanks, cl8 autotech234 05-19-2009, 01:24 AM They should be replace at 90K on that model. this will help for sure. CL8 05-20-2009, 03:01 AM I'm pretty sure I had a 90k tune up but that was quite a while ago. I just dont want my mechanic to say I need more done than necessary:rolleyes: jcardinal30 07-04-2009, 10:33 AM you might have a bad egr valve also. i just had a 05 doing the same thing and after 8 hours because of no codes were present i figured it out CL8 07-07-2009, 01:55 AM you might have a bad egr valve also. i just had a 05 doing the same thing and after 8 hours because of no codes were present i figured it out Yes my neighbor, who helped me with my air filter said he saw evidence of a bad valve. What I did this year and last year was buy Chevron gas treatment and put that in my tank. It seems to have helped. I figured it might just be the change in the formula for gasoline in the spring thats hard on my engine.:dunno: Alphabravo 07-08-2009, 07:45 AM Yes my neighbor, who helped me with my air filter said he saw evidence of a bad valve. The air filter had oil on it. hundahunta 07-11-2009, 12:32 AM possible fuel pump, common failure..or a engine misfire, a scanner would tell a lot of info CL8 07-12-2009, 02:36 AM ^ I hope not that! Alphabravo 07-12-2009, 08:46 AM The air filter had oil on it. Good to know, thanks! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
