99 Jeep GC Limited Memory Heated Seat Problemsunny18018 05-14-2009, 11:49 AM Hello, I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Liminted. When i got my car back from the mechanic, the Memory seat and heated seats option does not work. I had a Break boot instaled and a new battery installed. With the memory option...when I press a button the seat and mirrows and radio are supposed to go into position....the radio station changes, but the seat does not respond. I think that both passenger and drivers heated seat option is also not working. However I can manually position the seat with the adjustment buttons on the side of the seat. it seems like the seats have stopped responding. we checked fuses, and all seem to be fine. Is there some kind of connection, that connests the seats to the computer. Please help. Thank you fredjacksonsan 05-14-2009, 05:11 PM 1st thought is that by disconnecting the battery, the seat memories were erased. Have you tried reprogramming them according to the owner's manual? sunny18018 05-14-2009, 10:56 PM Hello, Thank you for responding. Yes, i did try reprograming. What is stumping is that the radio stations change, so I think the the program is in there, it is just not getting the info to the seats. Is there some kind of connection underneath the seat? sunny18018 05-14-2009, 10:58 PM Also, when I remove the keys from the ignition, the seat is supposed to move back. That is not working either. fredjacksonsan 05-16-2009, 07:29 AM There's definitely at least one and possibly more plug in connections under the seat, so of course check to make sure they're connected. IF they are, I'd consider taking it back to where you had it worked on, and telling them to fix it at no charge. Barring that, I'm not the electronics guy, so hopefully one of them will be along shortly. sunny18018 05-16-2009, 01:27 PM I'm am very gratful for your responding. Thank you. I'm trying to avoid taking the seat out. Is there a connection under the drivers seat that controls the heated seats on both Drivers and Passengers side? Do you know where might I get a schematic of what is under the seats? Thank you again for helping. fredjacksonsan 05-16-2009, 10:32 PM You don't have to take the seat out to reach the connection, though you might have to do some contortions to reach the wiring. There will be at least one set of wires and a plug connection under the seat. Make sure they're connected. Again, since the people that did the work caused the problem....go back to them for the solution. sunny18018 05-17-2009, 11:25 AM Hello, I already went back to the mechanic. He said he did not do anything under the seat. He said he will help me do what ever it is , but he dosen't know what to do. Howerver I see something under the seat that looks like wires to a plastic thing, that needs to be connected to something. He said that this is for the seat belts. I think this is my problem, but I don';t know where to connect it to. I can't see very well under the seat. I will try to look better. I will let you know. Thank you for your help. fredjacksonsan 05-18-2009, 10:17 AM If it's not the plug under the seat, and it's not a fuse, then it's some electrical situation. The only other thing I can think of is to disconnect the battery terminals, then hold them together for 30sec. This should reset everything in the Jeep...you will likely have to reprogram everything after you do this. Good luck with it, let us know how it comes out. Biigpuker 05-19-2009, 12:40 AM When the battery was taken out the computer reset itself turning off those options. Remember the temperature and gas mileage buttons up near the top of the windshield, that's your settings up there. Push the button on the right side until that option appears and turn it back on. Don't start ripping your seats out. Get back to me if you have a problem. sunny18018 05-21-2009, 09:57 AM Hello, Thank you for all the info. I'm still working on this. I see and feel many connections under the seat. I just can't see them well....lol I will ask someone to do the battery thing. But why would my radio station and side view mirrors respond to the settings, but not the seats. I would love to see a schamatic of the wiring under the seats, so I know which one to focus on. I feel that there might be one wire connection that pertains just to the seats. Thank you again for helping. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
