I have a 99 Isuzu Rodeo V6 - Auto Trans. - wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and hopefully a diagnosis. The car operates fine, however when driving long distances - say 150 - 200 miles if I stop and try to restart within 5 minutes it will not start. It will attempt a start but choke out - and sometimes not even that - it just has the low click of the starter. Temp. gauge registers normal - not sure if it's an overheating issue - but nothing indicates that. Car will eventually restart (or at least has to date) after a 15-20 minute rest period. Any experience / thoughts? I had some issues early last year - had the EGR valve replaced, thought that had solved it..

who many miles?

History on the battery and the alt?

Does the start turn over super slow?

I would first start with cleaning up the battery terminals and the batter ground connections.

could be your module or coilpack unless it's set up with hei distributer if so coild in top. you said it drug when tring to turn starter over that could be your problem bad starter takes away power to fuel pump. also you should have a fusable link going to starter but really sounds like coils or starter bad. maybe even cps sensor....good luck....

It has 99,000 + right now - will reach 100,000 by end of June at latest. I would say the issue started after 75,000. Battery has been replaced, but that was probably 1 1/2 years ago - approx. The start doesn't turn over slowly (or at least I don't think so) if it does start it gets the initial "charge" and then dies out. and, thus far it always turns back on after letting it rest.
