My 325ix engine stopped while running 65 mph - very clean shut-down, no stuttering, etc - feels like spark. At home, there is no spark to plugs and no spark from the coil.

2 questions:
1. Where is the Ignition Control Unit on this 1989 325ix? The pictures in the book look like it's under the hood, but I can't find it anywhere. The wires from the ignition coil seem to run through the firewall and into the cabin. Could it be under the dash?

2. I got the distributor cap loose, but can't get it out. Do I need to remove the radiator and/or fan to get the cap out? That sounds too extreme.

Thanks for any suggestions.
